2.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

MANN TRAVEL & TOURS SDN BHD, a wholly owned Malaysian Bumiputra
company, incorporated on 18 th March 2002 with the name MANN RESOURCES
SDN BHD and the management office is located at No 8659, 2 nd Floor Wisma
Saudagar, 5th Miles, Jalan Ampang, 68000 Ampang, Selangor Darul Ehsan.

MANN TRAVEL & TOURS SDN BHD initially operated on 10th January 2005.
Currently our Company owned 50 vehicles along with contract vehicles to serve
target customers. MANN TRAVEL & TOURS SDN BHD is expected to build its
fleet to 100 vehicles and provide variety and choice of models to fulfill customers’
needs. Similarly, its network is expected to be in place at various strategic
locations covering all major airports and cities in Malaysia.

In this connection, a business plan has been put together to chart the direction that
MANN TRAVEL & TOURS SDN BHD would pursue given the present economic
climate, the maturity of the car rental industry in Malaysia, its potential and
constraints that determine the growth of the business.

Export, major expenditure on infrastructures and construction projects as well as

strong private consumption expenditures are major source of this optimism. From a
regional and international standpoint, Malaysia’s attainment of rapid economic
growth is remarkable.

The development of tourism in the light of the government aggressive push on the
influx of 20 million tourists by the years to come. Various government directives
have been issued for this development of the tourism industry and infrastructure
development. Rapid economic growth and increasing travel will create
transportation needs beyond the government’s resources capability.

The creation of an efficient, safe and modern transportation system by road, rail
and air will invariably require substantial private sector investment. There is,
therefore an urgent need to broaden and revitalize the public-private sector
partnership in transportation. MANN TRAVEL & TOURS SDN BHD is ready and
willing to contribute to this partnership.

This along with other development programs in place will enhance Malaysia’s
image and present Malaysia as a worthy destination for both tourists and
businessmen. With tourism presently being the third revenue earner for the country
and with the promotion and development of tourism, Malaysia will no doubt
become a premier tourist destination.

We believe that the car rental industry will play a vital role in accomplishing the
complete picture of Malaysia Economic growth.
The car rental market in Malaysia considered in this study is defined as any rental
for the purpose of road transport, including cars, vans and 4WD vehicles.

Motorcars are rented for a variety of purpose, i.e. business and leisure. In the
business market, car rental competes with company fleet vehicles and taxis. In the
leisure market, the competition is more difficult to define.

In some ways car rental compete with air travel, coach tours, taxis, trains, privately
owned vehicles and all other public transport. The majority of this study considers
competition to be the car rental company, however it is important to also keep in
mind the potential competitors in the leisure sector of the motor vehicle rental
industry.

The car rental market in Malaysia is currently estimated at RM95 Mill per annum
and is expected to increase further more. This clearly reflects the intensity of the
competition in a growing market.

MANN TRAVEL & TOURS SDN BHD believes in:

1. The BEST VALUE for our CUSTOMERS

2. A GREAT PLACE to work for our PEOPLE

3. An environment that fosters TEAMWORK

4. QUALITY through continuous improvement

5. INTERGRITY in All Us Say and Do

Establish MANN TRAVEL & TOURS SDN BHD as a player to be recognized.

Track customer profile and facilitate fleet and yield management activities.
Actively develop business throughout the country.
The main features of the Domestic Business segment are:-

 Car rental activities are largely tied to economic activities and the business
is predominantly though not exclusive airport based.

 Domestic Business provides the largely non-seasonal demand compared

with tourism although the majority of rentals are Monday-Friday and the
rental duration tends to be shorter, about 1.5 days on average and this
segment generally rents higher value cars.

 There is a strong price/volume relationship and the price is a key purchase

criterion, with little opportunity to differentiate rendering car rental in this
segment almost a commodity.

 Large market shares are enjoyed by other competitors, which consider the
segment crucial to their continued success.

 There is a low degree of customer loyalty compared to other segments.

 Convenience and availability are also one of the key criteria.

 Secretaries and Personal Assistants may be an influence or even decision –

makers.

 For many of these customers the decision about the rental company is not
made by the end users.

 This means that there are two sets of quite different needs that must be met,
specifically :-

1. The decision may be made by the Senior Managers.

2. They are looking for value and hassle-free relationship.

3. These customers can have very large accounts, which could represent a
significant loss if they move to a competitor.

4. It is currently the largest market segment and is forecasted to continue

growing.
 The main features of the Domestic Leisure segments are :-

1. Disposable income/economic growth is a critical variable on demand.

2. Price is a key criterion in this segment. The real opportunity is probably

in a car/accommodation packaged holiday. Rentals in this segment tend
to be for duration of 3-4 days.

3. There is substantial opportunity to target vans and 4WD to this group as

these types of vehicles fir neatly into the needs/profiles of this group.

4. The discretionary sector is difficult to target due to its fragmented nature

and as such requires expensive and potentially wasteful media
advertising to reach the diverse customer base. However, specific
markets can be successfully targeted such as :-

a) Permanent car out of service

b) Social-club outings
c) Temporary car upgrades to accommodate special requirements such
as during festive seasons.

The international business and leisure give great contribution to the car
rental market.
Initially, MANN TRAVEL & TOURS SDN BHD strategy is that of
focusing on specific segments, which will generate the required profits and
where opportunities of achieving sustainable competitive advantages are
greatest. The aim is to identify and target those segments where short,
medium and long term profitability is strong.
The aim of the marketing strategy is to position MANN TRAVEL &
TOURS SDN BHD as a responsive customer focused organization and to
bring a strong presence of reliability.
The pricing strategy is to remain positioned and cheaper than most of the
competitors. Any change in pricing policy needs to be cautiously
implemented, as it is critical not to encourage any type of price competition
amongst the players.
Consideration is also given to developing products, which make differential
pricing for the various sub segments possible.
The main trust of the marketing channel is related to the development of
network and the direct sales inter phase.

It is as such critical to identify segments of the business and prioritize them

based on profitability, target and size.

7.0 CAR RENTAL MARKET SIZE AND GROWTH

In year 2003, Malaysia has achieved approximately 13 million tourist arrival

with revenue receipt of about RM 24,221,000.50. Based on statistical report
on the distribution of tourist expenditure, 8.5% was spent on local
transportation.

It was also established that 26% of the visitors into Malaysia last year was
for business travel and 57.5% for holidays. The trend of car hire is font
catching up in Malaysia both in the business and leisure sector due to the
excellent infrastructure of our roads and highway which link all the major
down and cities. The roads system ensures that road travel throughout the
country is very safe, font and convenient and will always be the first choice
of travel mode.

With the government’s pro-foreign direct investment policy, we have seen a

number of multinational companies establishing their offices in Malaysia
especially in the state of Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Melaka, Pahang, Johor,
Sabah and Sarawak. Examples of some of companies: Siemens, Amerada
Hess, British Aerospace, Rolls Royce International, etc. Most of these
companies’ policies are to rent vehicles as it is economically more viable.

The travel industry has also began to contribute to the car rental industry as
many travel agencies have popularized self-drive travel packages for
individual and family traveler that comprise of a self-drive car and
accommodation which have proven to be a hit with travelers from USA,
Europe, Britain and Australia. The car rental industry has captured
approximately 6% of the tourist expenditure.

With the coming implementation of AFTA in year 2007, it has been

anticipated more companies prefer to hire vehicles. Car rental industry will
benefit from this shift of policy from the corporate companies as it has the
necessary expertise and experience to cater to this sector in fleet
management and repair services. The other spin off effect will also be the
additional services for insurances coverage of the vehicles.

The Malaysian government is also studying the possibility of all government

agencies and companies owned by the government to convent their entire
transport requirement from company owned vehicles to hire vehicles.
Current fleet of these companies and agencies totaled about 25,000 vehicles
nationwide and the time frame suggested to convert the whole fleet into
hired vehicles will be within 10-15 years to complete the whole exercise.
Estimated annual revenue from this sector will be approximately RM 6
million.
To summaries the potential of growth for the car rental industry is
anticipated to grow by 8-10% next year. MANN Travel & Tours is formed
to capture the riche market for long term rentals and fleet management.
