• Delivered the Integrated Reading Curriculum, developed by the Children’s Defense Fund, to a class of ten
Kindergarten through second grade students every day for six weeks.
• Co-organized a presentation on the history of Freedom Schools, and presented during Freedom School
Partner’s training in Charlotte, NC with the purpose of informing interns about the history of the Freedom
School movement.
• Served as an energetic Harambee leader, classroom intern, and responsible for setting up a classroom space,
maintaining the condition of that space, and breaking down the space at the end of the summer.
• Attended National Freedom School Training in Knoxville, TN sponsored by the Children’s Defense Fund.

• Tutored Kindergarten student learning English as a second language.
• Administered word identification assessment and spelling inventory, and assessed a student’s oral reading
level with the purpose of creating an individualized tutoring plan for the student; and implemented the plan
once a week, for 8 weeks, resulting in the student’s advancement of two reading levels.
