that shows the strength)
9/27/17 Graves Use of Nonverbal cues Cortney Olson 2:30 and again at 2:50
(Envoy technique)
Reflection: As we were practicing counting on the thermometer as a class, I simply put my hand up when I wanted the
students to stop counting. This is something that was unplanned, however, looking back at it now I see how beneficial it was
and how I was unknowingly practicing Envoy techniques. This nonverbal cue seemed to really work for the students and
they understood exactly what I wanted them to do.

Candidate
Graves Use of wait time after a Cortney Olson 0:46-0:52
9/27/17 question

Reflection: After asking the students to think back to what we learned the previous day, I didn’t see many hands up in the air
so I decided to wait. I had one student who raised her hand, however, she is the student who had answered several of the
questions that I asked the class. Seeing this, I decided to wait and see if anyone else would raise their hand. This process
seemed to be successful as I continued through the lesson doing the same thing.

Growth Candidate
9/27/17 Graves Make the counting as a Cortney Olson 2:04-3:06
class more visual for
the students.
Reflection: When using the class thermometer and practicing counting as a class, I would have liked to make it more visual
for the kids. I would have liked them so have either their own thermometers to they could see each of the dash marks that
we were counting. I knew that when we were doing this that not every child could see it and it really bothered me. I really
wished that I out more emphasis on the dash marks and what they represented.

9/27/17 Graves Elaborate more on Cortney Olson 0:49-0:52
their answers.

Reflection: With certain questions, I found that was challenging to get the students to elaborate more on what their answer
is. I would try and get them to add on to their answer, but I found it hard to prompt them to get them to say the answer that I
was looking for. However, some of the questions were easier to get them to elaborate on more and it was easier to prompt
them.
