For almost a decade the students at DLSU-D had been using wooden tables at JFH,
which serves as the study table and channels as a rechargeable station for electronic
devices. However, these tables are being detracted and it is the time that facilities in the
University be improved and developed.
BACKGROUND RESEARCH
Scope and Limitation
The proposed installation of electronic tables powered by solar energy will
be fixed at JFH Kubo across the building of College of Liberal Arts and
Communications. The proponents planned the proposal during 2nd Semester
AY 2016-2017 and believed that the project proposal will boost the
confidence of the students and faculty to engage and educate the Lasallian
Community on renewable energy through interaction and dialogue.
Furthermore, through this project, De La Salle University – Dasmariñas will
become a role model for other campus not only in the Philippines but also
around the world while emphasizing sustainability. Due to an overwhelming
no. of students within the campus, it is difficult to find a place to recharge the
gadgets that are beneficial inn conducting research. Hence, these electronic
tables are much needed to provide convenience to learners while nurturing the
nature.
The proposed operating hours of the e-tables is from 7:00 AM to 8:30 PM,
Monday to Saturday to give way to those researchers accomplish their tasks.
For the conducted survey, the respondents will only be asked a set of yes
or no questions regarding the installation of e-tables powered by solar energy.
- Time table or work plan and Schedule for implementation (Provide a Gantt Chart)
- Personnel involved or Qualifications of the personnel involved
- Costs/Budget
The solar tables are eight seat picnic tables made from recycled plastic, with three
45-watt solar panels on the south facing side of the umbrella and maintenance free
battery bank for solar energy storage that allows for day and night time use. The
solar energy potential exceeds the levels required for proper performance, and the
proposed locations were chosen to ensure ample access to sunlight. The battery
bank has the capacity to store enough power to charge electronic devices
continuously for up to two cloudy days. Each table includes two standard 110V
outlets, two USB ports for charging electronics, adjustable angular settings for the
canopy umbrella for optimal solar exposure on panels, and a solar charge
controller with digital readout for display of solar energy production.
