Jill Szymk1ew1cz has been n student teacher in my first grade class room at Pleasant
Valley Elementary for ten weeks . Tl1e class has 18 stuclents , 2 of whom have learning
disabilities . Pleasant Valley 1s also a very high poverty school and l1as a diverse student
population. M s. Szymkiewicz has been responsible for teaching reading, writing, math , science
and social studies
During l1er time teaching, M s. Szymkiewicz took responsibility for the class room and
assumed the duties of planning and teaching all subjects . M s. Szymkiewicz has demonstrated
her organizational skills and creativity when developing weekly lesson plans and student
assessments Sile has also succ ess fully demonstrated her awareness of different learning
styles and continually ndjusted assignm ents to meet the varied needs of students. In addition,
Ms Szyrnkiewicz maintained a positive learning environment and set high expectations for all
students She was also able to effectively implement procedures according to the sc hool wide
Positive Behavior Interventions and Support Program (PBIS) as welt as the ind1v1dual classroom
behavior plan.
Ms Szymkiewicz possesses a positive and enthusiastic personality She developed a
great rapport with the students s he worked with and she has a positive working relationship w ith
fellow staff members She also offers a v ery w arm and inviting classroom enviro nm ent that
allow s students to feel welcom ed and cared for.
I am confident that Ms Szymkiew1cz will be an asset to any school distric t that she 1s
fortunate to work with She ,s confident, knowledgeable, and has the skills necessary to become
an outstanding teacher I believe tl1at st1e will be able to grow professionally and become even
