My name is Kayla Clark and I am a senior at Alverno College majoring in Early
Elementary Education with a support in English Language Arts. My projected graduation date is December 2018. I appreciate the time you are taking to view my portfolio as well as assess my materials. I began my journey at Alverno College with a major in Nursing and a support in Creative Arts. I soon came to find that nursing was not for me and I was not too sure where to go from there. I inquired about the education program and instantly fell in love with teaching; although, my whole life I had never considered it as a profession I was interested in fulfilling. My journey through the education program has helped me realize that this is exactly where I should be. Throughout my time at Alverno I have reflected countless times on my work and my teaching, aiming for growth in as many ways as possible. I have learned that effective teachers never stop growing, that there is never enough time to learn all that you can learn. I am continuously looking for ways to improve in my classroom that will benefit all of my students and maximize their learning. As I continue my journey to becoming a life-long teacher I hope to grow in all aspects of my teaching, ensuring that I am always circulating through the best teaching strategies and skills. The artifacts that you are about to view show my progress over the course of the last four years. I designed my portfolio with an organization focused on my growth as a teacher. The structure flows through my fields, from first field experience to fourth field experience. You will also find that I spent time in the field outside of specified field experience courses. Within these placements I show an analysis of my demonstration of the ten Wisconsin Teaching Standards and the five Alverno Education Abilities. I have developed rationales to support my growth and development in these areas and how I understand the standards and abilities. Thank you again for taking the time to view my continual progression thus far in my pre- teaching career here at Alverno College
