1. INTRODUCCION.

In the following activity each of the subjects of the units, the objective of this activity was

developed in reviewing and putting into practice the knowledge learned during the period of

this course.

Part 1: Choose a photograph of the most beautiful Colombian city where you have been

to. Send the photo where you appeared and describe that place.

Medellin

Botero Square

Park of the Sculptures in Medellin is a museum exposed to the open air, located in the heart

of the city.

The Square Botero is a huge raised park that houses 23 monumental sculptures donated by

Fernando Botero, the Museum of Antioquia is also in this square in the best-preserved Art

Deco in Colombia.

Botero Square is in front of the Museum of Antioquia or called Botero Museum, which was

also a donation of the teacher Fernando Botero.

In this square or cultural and artistic park we find 23 bronze sculptures, which are already

located and distributed throughout the park, from its beginning to its end.

Two sources of water are appreciated, which allows the atmosphere of the park more

enjoyable, one of these is the source of the cacique Nutibara, which is a work of maestro

Pedro Nel Gómez and was restored by the Medellín metro in 1996.

This square outside the monumental sculptures, consists of four green sectors distributed

throughout the geographical space of the place and two more, the elements that are in the

Rafael Uribe Uribe culture palace, but that can also be enjoyed and provide visual richness

and natural environment to the square, as well as a huge division of wrought iron chairs and

wood that facilitate the contemplation and admiration of the artistic, cultural and social

landscape that lives and sees in this public space of Medellin.

This space of culture and free social interaction has undoubtedly become a reference for

Medellin and one of the main attractions of the city for national and foreign visitors.

a. Where is the city?

Medellín is a Colombian municipality, capital of the department of Antioquia. It is the most

populated city in the department and the second in the country. It is located in the widest part

of the region known as Valle de Aburrá, in the central mountain range of the Andes,

constituting the largest urban center of Tal Andean branch. It extends to both banks of the

Medellín River - also called the Aburrá River - that crosses from north to south, and is the

main nucleus of the metropolitan area of the Aburrá Valley. The city has a population of

2,508,452 inhabitants.

b. What is the city like?

Medellín a city with open doors for all, with spectacular people and know the infinity of

places where there is a history and traditions that identify us in this beautiful city of eternal

spring.

The spring weather of Medellín, its landscape of mountains, its spectacular paronamic visits

Medellín is the second city in importance in Colombia, and capital of the Department of

Antioquia; its average temperature is 24 degrees and it is located at 1,475 meters above sea

level; It has an extension of 105 square kilometers of urban land and 5.2 of land for

expansion.

e. What is the best thing about it?

This rural humor of the inhabitants of Medellin, is mixed with the hectic life of the

metropolis, in its capital. There are no mountains or rivers that can discourage the desire to

grow of these people.

Medellín is a city that stands out as one of the main financial, industrial, commercial and

service centers of Colombia, primarily in the textile, clothing, metal-mechanic, electrical and

electronic, telecommunications, automotive, food and health sectors.

The city is one of the main cultural centers of Colombia. Medellin carries out important and

recognized festivities at local, national and international level such as: the Flower Fair,

annual event that offers visitors more than 140 cultural events, stories such as: Equine

National Fair, Festival of Orchestras, National Festival of the Trova, Parade of Old Cars,

Horseback Riding and the Poetry Festival, this last event was awarded to the Alternative

Nobel Prize, prelude to the Nobel Peace Prize, by the Right Livelihood Foundation of

Sweden, in which the poets of almost all the world, who are responsible for public. In the city

is also done Colombia moda, is the most important fashion fair that takes place in Colombia,

in this event the national and international preferences for their designs and the quality of

their collections are presented.

It is characterized by its excellent academic activity that has more than 360 academic

programs among undergraduates, technologies, specializations, masters and doctorates.

Thanks to this, it is recognized as a university and knowledge city, since some of the most

important Colombian universities are located in Medellín.

Families, and in general all travelers, many options for fun and entertainment in Medellin,

Colombia. Here there are many places like museums, libraries and publics.

Enjoy the Museum in Medellin, the botero sculptures, travel by metro Medellin cable, on the

train you can travel throughout the city.

It has a route through the most characteristic of Medellin, measures approximately eight

blocks, but extends its urban background to thirty more.

Visit the poblado where you will feel the eternal spring of Medellin to reach the poblado after

touring its beautiful avenue. It will make you feel when you arrive at the ever present spring.

f. How is the traffic in the city?

The problem of mobility in Medellín has multiple problematic situations and is a

phenomenon that requires, for its possible solution, the combination of investment strategies

in infrastructure, technology and cultural and educational campaigns.

A high percentage of private vehicles that transit through the city only because they are

occupied by the driver; situation generated in many cases by the high social value generated

by the possession and use of the private car. Sharing the car between work or study

colleagues allows you to leave more vehicles stored and fuel savings for their owners.

In Medellín -as in all cities- a similar schedule has been established for the entire labor,

commercial, financial and educational sector. That is why there are some flat hours and

others that are very congested. The majority of citizens, having to travel at the same time,

find the traffic jams on almost all roads in the city. Extend schedules, establish several

working days so that workers are the ones that best accommodate the displacements.

It is the capital of the department of Bolívar, Colombia. It was founded on June 1, 1533 by

Pedro de Heredia. Since 1991 Cartagena is a Tourist and Cultural District. The city is located

on the shores of the Caribbean Sea.

Cartagena is one of those cities that evokes history, romanticism, elegance, fun and natural

beauty. It is the second most visited destination by foreigners in Colombia and one of the

most popular for those who want to enjoy a good holiday.

We can visit Cartagena de Indias is a city within Colombia on the shores of the Caribbean

Inquisition, the Clock Tower, the colonial streets, and also natural beauties such as the

beaches of La Boquilla, Boca Grande, Castillo Grande, El Laguito and the next islands of

Rosario and Barú. you can practice Beach volleyball, you can’t never throw something

away on the floor, Keepzone free of waste, don’t pollute the Beach affecting the equilibrium

of life.

Aspects Negative

We Colombians do not take care of our riches, we only look at doing harm to nature, it can be

dangerous to throw away papers, killing animals is a terrible pastime like the damage we

cause to another animal, pollute the waters, lack signage and surveillance on all the beaches

of the country to avoid more accidents there we will know with tourists who will enjoy them

and never return to their destination,
