Roads and Maintenance Division QATAR BUILDING COMPANY a METHOD OF STATEMENT APPLICATION OF MC 1 (PRIME COAT) | ‘WI 001 ‘Aug 15, 2013 02 | Updated as per GCS 2010 pe \ a t DATE REV NO. | REASON FOR ISSUE/REVISION PREPARED | CHECKED | APPROVED i 1.0 PURPOSE: The purpose of this method of statement is to outline the general requirements & precautionary measures to be implemented for mixing and application of MC 1 Prime Coat at site 2.0 SCOPE This method of statement describes the activities and performance of associated quality control activities related to the mixing and application of MC 1 Prime Coat confirming to relevant specifications, documents & project requirements 3.0 REFERENCES 3.1 Qatar Construction Specification 2010, Section 6, Part §.12 4.0 EQUIPMENTS 4.1 Liquid Bitumen Distributor truck with spray bar nuzzles comply with required specification as per QCS 2010 Section 6, Part 5.6.3 5.0 CREW 5.1 Safety Representative, 5.2 Foreman, 5.3 Truck driver, 5.4 Spray man, 5.5 Assistant, 6.0 MATERIALS 6.1 Liquid asphalt for use in asphalt works shall be MC 70 medium curing cutback asphalt in accordance with AASHTO M82. 6.2 The percentage of distillate & Asphaltic residue will be minimum 40%-60% & maximum 45%-55% 7.0 PROCEDURE 7.1 The surface will be cleaned and kept free from ruts, dust etc at site, 7.2 The existing utilities, edge kerb shall be protected. 7.3 The weather conditions shall be observed and accordingly the mix shall be applied 7.4 The application rate shall be maintained as per QCS between 0.45 to 0.75 kg/m2 or as directed by the engineer. 7.5 The traffic shall not be permitted until distillate completely evaporated, 7.6 The MC 1 Prime coat area to be kept for minimum 48 hrs prior to lay asphalt materials or as directed by the engineer. Documents No. Wi 001 Pages 2 of 3 7.7 The application temperature for MC 1 Prime coat shall be between 60°C - 85°C as directed by the engineer. 8.0 SAFETY Prior to commencement of the works following safety requirements shall be fulfilled 8&1All necessary safety measures shall be fully operational before work commences affecting the existing road, 8.2 All workers shall be equipped with Personal Protective Equipments. 8.3 Safety cones and warning signs shall be installed as and where necessary 8.4 Banks man shall be provided for traffic areas. 8.5 Safety officers/worksite supervisor shall be presented at site full time 86 Site protections shall be allowed to prevent from any damage to existing utilities Notes: The resources & safety requirement may vary as per site conditions, complexity of the project, climates & etc. ‘The resources allocation to the job shall be subject to the contractual condition with client/main contractor but restricted to the relevant standard’s requirement.
