A BEHIND THE SCENES TO HOW GREECE WORKS
General Information
Greece has a Parliamentary Republic. In this
republic, there is a president (elected every 5 years
by parliament) as well as a Prime Minister
(appointed by the president). The president of
Greece is the head of the state, while the Prime
Minister is the Head of Government.
In Greece, general elections are important, just like
in other nations. General elections in Greece are
held every 4 years. Voting is compulsory for
citizens of Greece who are 18 years of age or older.

The President of Greece, Prokopis
Pavlopoulos, has a variety of roles. Some
of these roles include appointing the
Prime Minister and appointing,
dismissing members of the government,
grant pardons, declare war, and many
more.
The Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, is the
head of the dominant party in
parliament.
