Matthew Zavolta Problem Statement Algebra 2

Prime numbers are whole numbers that are greater than 1 and are only divisible 1 and itself.
Twin prime numbers differ from two like the numbers 5 and 7. Other set of twin prime numbers
are 17 and 19. If you add 1 after multiplying twin primes, the final product will be a perfect
square and the number is a multiple of 36.

Process
I first started out listing the first 100 prime numbers. It was a long process because I had to
make sure they were prime numbers and I wanted to do the work to the best of my ability.
While I was looking for the first 100 prime numbers I had difficulty with it but I completed it.
After I found them I multiplied two different prime numbers and added one. The equation I
used was xy+1=z to figure out the total. Then I would use the z number then divide by 36. If the
number z was a perfect square and a multiple of 36 then the numbers x and y are twin primes.

Number Number (Number + 2) + 1 Answer

3 3(3+2) + 1 16= 4 squared
3(5) + 1 16/36 = .444
5 5(5+2) + 1 36= 6 squared
5(7) + 1 36/36 = 1
11 11(11+2) + 1 144 = 12 squared
11(13) + 1 144/12 = 12
17 17(17 + 2) + 1 324= 18 squared
17(19) + 1 324/18 = 18
29 29(29 +2) + 1 900 = 30 squared
29(31) + 1 900/36 = 25
41 41(41 + 2) + 1 1764 = 42 squared
41(43) + 1 1764/36 = 49
59 59(59 + 2) + 1 3600 = 60 squared
59(61) + 1 3600/36= 100
71 71(71 + 2) + 1 5184 = 72 squared
71(73) + 1 5184/36= 144
101 101(101 + 2) +1 10404 = 102 squared
101(103) + 1 10404/36= 289
107 107(107 + 2) + 1 11664 = 108 squared
107(109) + 1 11664/ 36= 324
137 137(137 + 2) + 1 19044 = 138 squared
137(139) + 1 19044/36= 529
161 161(161 + 2) + 1 26244 = 162 squared
161(163) + 1 26244/36= 729
179 179(179 + 2) + 1 32400= 180 squared
179(181) + 1 32400/36= 900
191 191(191 + 2) + 1 36864= 192 squared
191(193) +1 36864/36= 1024
221 221(221 + 2) + 1 49284= 222 squared
221(223) + 1 49284/36= 1396

281(283) + 1 79524/36= 2209
311 311(311 + 2) + 1 97344= 312 squared
311(313) + 1 97344/36= 2704
347 347(347 + 2) + 1 121104= 348 squared
347(349) + 1 121104/36= 3364
419 419(419 + 2) + 1 176400= 420 squared
419(421) + 1 176400/36= 4900

Solution
The equation that I used, n(n + 1) + 1 with all the problems I listed above, proved to show that
all twin primes are perfect squares and a multiple of 36.
