Rating Scale
For the purposes of consistency, the same rating scales are used throughout the
EAQual system.

The ratings are as follows:

1. Outstanding
Consistently exceeds requirements
2. Very Good
Exceeds requirements in key areas
3. Good
Consistently meets requirements in key areas
4. Generally Satisfactory
Meets most requirements but development needed in key areas
5. Needs Improvement
Improvement needed in key areas
6. Unsatisfactory

The rating gives the opportunity for the individual and the appraiser to assess
performance during the review period against set ratings. It is important to
acknowledge that this is not a comparison between different individuals but
what one would expect of the individual aligned within their role and
responsibilities in the business unit.

The benchmark for a performance that fully and consistently meets

requirements is (3) Good. It is important to bear in mind that a (4) rating does
not reflect poor performance but a generally satisfactory performance with
some development needs.

The appraisers and mangers must not wait until the appraisal period to inform
an individual that their performance is below expected standards.
