Before
you
mix
1.
Listen
critically
to
your
last
bounce,
as
if
you’d
never
heard
it
before.
What
aspects
do
you
feel
need
to
be
adjusted
to
improve
the
mix?
What
problems
do
you
hear?
What
will
you
be
working
on
and
why?
Where
do
you
plan
to
start?
Write
the
answer
to
this
question
below
BEFORE
you
do
your
mixing
session.
Answer
thoughtfully,
based
on
carefully
listening
to
your
bounce.
Strings are still too loud in places
Acoustic guitar is as well
Vocals could be a little louder, sound bare Second half of song after break still sounds weird, kick feels very unsatisfying
Guitar should be emphasized more
While
you
mix
Take
notes
for
yourself
about
what
actions
and
strategies
you
use
to
improve
the
mix.
You
may
do
this
here,
or
in
a
journal
or
on
a
separate
sheet
of
paper.
After
you
mix
2.
After
your
Access
Period,
use
the
notes
you
took
(see
above)
to
make
a
list
of
the
changes
you
made
during
the
mixing
session.
These
changes
should
correspond
to
the
goals
you
identified
in
Question
1.
List
the
changes
here.
(For
example:
Couldn’t
hear
background
vocals
-‐>
rebalanced
vocals.)
Listened on speakers at low volume to make sure proper instrument came through:
Lowered acoustic guitar, bosotred strings in various opening sections
EQd snare a little different to not stick out quite so much Upped kick sub in second half
Upped vocals on intro
Added delay to vocals to sound more full, and drums as well (experiment)
Added chorus to the electric guitar on end to make it stand out more
Corrected piano and strings panning to give more separation
3.
Sometimes,
as
we
mix,
the
changes
we
make
reveal
other
problems
or
aspects
that
we
feel
need
to
be
addressed
before
continuing.
Did
you
make
any
additional
changes
that
you
felt
were
necessary
that
you
did
not
anticipate
making
and
that
were
not
listed
in
your
answer
to
question
2?
If
so,
list
them
below.
