A recent survey in the Democratic primary for Pennsylvania’s newly drawn 4th Congressional
District shows former Congressman Joe Hoeffel holding an early lead over State Representative
Mary Jo Daley, State Representative Madeleine Dean and former CeaseFire PA Director Shira
Goodman. Hoeffel leads Dean 25 percent – 17 percent, with Daley trailing at 9 percent and
Goodman at 5 percent.1 Hoeffel leads across most subgroups and regions, including both men
and women, among older voters and voters with at least a four year college degree, and in
every region of the district except for the southeast corner of Montgomery County.

Though the primary election is still more than two months away and a plurality of voters are
undecided, Hoeffel is well positioned to win the Democratic nomination for the newly drawn 4th
Congressional District.
