The Philippines suffers from widespread corruption.

Means of corruption include graft, bribery,

embezzlement, backdoor deals, nepotism, and patronage. It’s more concern on the most popular
problem the Philippines is now encountering. Corruption mostly occurs on small country including
Philippines. Corruption is a pervasive and long-standing problem in both the public and private sectors.
The country’s ranking in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index declined from 95 in
2015 to 101 in 2016 of 176 countries worldwide. The World Economic Forum’s 2016-2017 Global
Competitiveness Report ranked corruption as among the top problematic factors for doing business in
the Philippines

Philippines are one of the poorest countries in the world it has the most problems encountered such as
crime, overpopulation, poverty and corruption where the government is the root of it. Those who are in
power are abusive they steal people’s money, they give them unending promises they do not keep, they
use people to gain more power and to manipulate them in their hands. The people who are not in
power had also made mistakes as they let them manipulate those who are in power. During elections
there are candidates who use poor people and pay them to gain more votes and then corrupt their
position to have money and some uses the position to become fame.

There are laws on corruption such as CREATING THE NATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION AND
ABOLISHING THE PRESIDENTIAL COMMISSION AGAINST GRAFT AND CORRUPTION CREATED UNDER
EXECUTIVE ORDER 151, S. 1994, AS AMENDED Executive Order No. 268 which state that it has always
been the avowed policy of the State, as enshrined in the constitutional principle that a public office
trust, to promote and maintain honesty and integrity in public service and to repress acts of public
officers and private persons alike which constitute graft and corrupt practices. The proposed solutions
are Punish the vote sellers and vote brokers, Annual assessment of all public officials by the BIR, A more
effective and efficient tax system, Regular surprise examination of all government offices and reduce the
number of officials. These are the policies and proposed solution unto corruption.

The government should not be blame on the entire the problems the country is now facing. The people
itself made it worse as it chooses wrong person to be elected. It is not just the government but the
people also. People should wake up and should be wise and the people who are in power must know
how to run the country and start solving the country’s problem. They shouldn’t just sit there and make
others to do it or enjoy their power they must work and find solutions.
The Philippines is one of the poorest county in the whole world. The population is getting larger every
day. The poverty line for 2014 marked a per capita income of 100,534 pesos a year. According to the
data from the National Statistical Coordination Board, more than one-quarter of the population fell
below the poverty line the first semester of 2014, an approximate 78 percent increase since 2013. The
country’s poverty incidence for the whole of 2015 declined to 21.6 percent from 25.2 percent in 2012
and 26.3 percent in 2009, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported.

Most hardest problem the country is about to solve is poverty as the population just can’t stop growing
every day. Poverty and inequality in the Philippines remains a challenge. In the past four decades, the
proportion of households living below the official poverty line has declined slowly and unevenly.
Economic growth has gone through boom and bust cycles, and recent episodes of moderate economic
expansion have had limited impact on the poor. Great inequality across income brackets, regions, and
sectors, as well as unmanaged population growth, are considered some of the key factors constraining
poverty reduction efforts. Not just the overgrowing population but some are because of calamities, war
and lack of budget and attention given by the government.

The policies the government are; Minimum wage laws, Negative Income Tax, Social Security’s, in kind
benefits and in a nutshell. While the proposed solutions are create job, raise the minimum wage,
increase the earned income tax credit for childless workers, support pay equity, provide paid leave and
sick days, establish work that schedules that work, invest in high affordable and high-quality child care
and early education, expand Medicaid, reform the criminal justice system and enacts policies that
support successful re-entry and do no harm. These were the proposed solution regarding to poverty it
sounds a lot of help but seems that these aren’t enough until someone will make a move.

There are lots of proposed solutions on how to stop poverty yet no one had given an attention to it, it
remains written and until now, it’s still hard to solve. No one could tell when the poverty will end, when
continuous reasons of poverty appears every single day, but if we start working now then maybe soon,
the goal should not eradicate the poverty but to lessen it. We should listen to people who screams
poverty and listen to those people suggesting on how to stop it then we start working.
Corruption is a form of dishonest or unethical conduct by a person entrusted with a position of
authority, often to acquire personal benefit. Corruption may include many activities including bribery
and embezzlement, though it may also involve practices that are legal in many countries. Corruption is
one of the Philippines most unsolved problem. Corruption mostly occurs unto the small towns in the
Philippines or worst those who craves for money, fame and power.

The Philippines suffers from widespread corruption. Means of corruption include graft, bribery,
embezzlement, backdoor deals, nepotism, and patron. From the national government to
local/provincial/city governments. Imagine how many politicians deduct their kickbacks from the funds
for their self-interest! Even former presidents have plunder cases yet they’re not condemned for their
scandalous and face slapping theft of the people’s taxes! They got even reelected as mayors and
congressmen. One of the big factors that contribute to poverty in Philippines is corruption, a problem
that doesn’t seem to end. Because of these corruptions, funds are getting short for health, education,
agriculture, and other important matters.

Here are some the things we can do in order to stop these corruptions. One way is to start from
ourselves. Do not sell your votes! Don’t exchange the future of the country for just couple of hundreds
of peso. Another thing is to impose regular assessment/audit of SALNs of public officials. The leaders of
the country whether it be local or national level should provide transparency reports. Next is to provide
ways to improve the integrity of the justice system. It always seems that those who are in power can
simply get away from trouble by buying the justice system. The other is to stop corruption of public
information. Corruption in the government would be minimized if there will be transparency and
fairness in our public reports and records. The Freedom of Information Act (FOI) must be enacted and be
implemented now. Also, the Commission on Audit (COA) should do their job to ensure that the financial
records and reports of all government agencies are fairly stated.

Finally in order to stop corruption then we should first eradicate corrupt people, those who uses their
power to use peoples money, those who does not deserve to be in the position. To erase means to
erase dirty people and their should be no exception, even those who works in the government and
those who are not, corruption starts from people then it should end in people also. Sooner or later the
corruption will lessen, we should be wise and be aware of our surroundings, we should not ignore those
people who uses us, we should not be afraid, we are people and we have our right including the
freedom of speech. We should not be silent, instead we should express.
Unemployment is the situation of actively looking for employment but not being currently employed.
This is also Philippines biggest problems, those who were unemployed, those who seeks for job but can’t
find, those who graduated with degree but there’s no job appropriate to the degree they finish, lack of
job, a job to apply, or anything that is connected unto job. Up until now there’s no solution to it, if
there’s any, there is no enough budgets for it. One of the reasons why there are Filipinos who works
abroad, aside from bigger salary they could also give more to their family who were left in the
Philippines but there’s consequences.

In Philippines, the unemployment rate measures the number of people actively looking for a job as a
percentage of the labor force. This page provides - Philippines Unemployment Rate - actual values,
historical data, forecast, chart, statistics, economic calendar and news. Philippines Unemployment Rate -
actual data, historical chart and calendar of releases - was last updated on March of 2018. Those in the
industry sector accounted for 20.1 percent (Table 3). The unemployment rate in July 2017 was
estimated at 5.6 percent. The unemployment rate in July 2016 was 5.4 percent. ... Among the
unemployed persons in July 2017, 64.0 percent were males. The economy remained buoyant in the
fourth quarter, with annual GDP growth decelerating only slightly from the previous quarter’s
remarkable performance. Both private and public consumption expanded at faster paces than in Q3, as
did fixed investment on the back of government’s ongoing infrastructure push.

The solution for unemployment is, of course, to create new jobs. Usually, a healthy economic growth
rate of 2-3 percent is enough to create the 150,000 jobs needed to prevent high unemployment. When
unemployment creeps above 6-7 percent and stays there, it means the economy can't create enough
new jobs. That's when the government steps in. Full development of small-scale, labor-intensive
industries, Choosing appropriate labor -intensive technologies of production, Creating a more direct link
between education and employment, Reduce rural migration, Remove capital intensive bias and
Employment strategy package are the proposed solutions to unemployment.

There are too many reasons why there are so many people who are still unemployed, maybe, they don’t
like working, those who didn’t finish studying, those who can’t find job as it has no experience and many
more, we as a student can’t do anything at this issue for now but soon, as of now our job is to finish
studying, then soon maybe we can help reduce unemployment, we should encourage those who are at
our age to focus on studies so that soon it won’t be hard for us to find job and maybe we can open our
own to help those who can’t find job.
Addiction is defined as a chronic, relapsing brain disease that is characterized by compulsive drug
seeking and use, despite harmful consequences.† It is considered a brain disease because drugs change
the brain—they change its structure and how it works. These brain changes can be long-lasting, and can
lead to the harmful behaviors seen in people who abuse drugs. Drug addiction is one of the hardest
problems to solve as it just can’t stop. People who are into drugs just can’t stop their selves using drugs
even if takes their life or no matter where drug brought them to.

Philippines is popular in terms of illegal drugs, even when president duterte seated as the president, the
drug dealers, the suppliers and users just can’t stop some of them surrendered but there are many who
continue and end up dying. One of the most abused drugs in the Philippines is a local type of
methamphetamine mixed with caffeine known as Shabu. This stimulant is believed to be the drug of
choice for 90% of the Philippines illegal substance users. This is a powerfully addictive drug that can
cause people to have intense hallucinations and become extremely paranoid. Some users of this drug
have even jumped off high rise buildings because they believed they could fly. Shabu didn’t arrive in the
Philippines until the mid-eighties, but it soon became hugely popular among drug users.
Methamphetamine causes feelings of euphoria and the user feels full of energy. The most common
drugs used in the Philippines includes, marijuana, cocaine, alcohol, heroin, methamphetamine also
known as shabu, opium and ecstasy.

There are treatments on drugs such as Narcotics Anonymous is a twelve step program that supports the
individual to escape their addictions. This fellowship is not just focused on stopping the drug use but
also on building a life worth living. There are a number of drug rehabilitation facilities in the Philippines
including Serenity at the Quarry. It is becoming more common for Filipinos to go abroad to seek the
most effective treatment for their addictions. Drug and Alcohol Rehab Asia is based in Thailand and is
considered to be one of the leading rehab in Asia. The single most important thing to remember when
talking about an addiction solution and treatment is that every good treatment program is individually
created to meet the personal needs of the patient. The second most important thing to consider is that
if the person is already in treatment all efforts should be made to keep him/her there to complete the
program and get into a solid recovery program.

Drug addiction maybe threatening but we could make it stop, it should not just the authorities who
should solve the problem but we can also help, why not conduct seminars or anything that might
change people’s mind, we might help and if ever we know someone who are on drugs then we should
tell it to the police, we should not keep our silence. And we should not question our president on why
he’s doing it, it he who protect us. We should not question him; instead let us support his campaign on
drugs.
Crime when we talk about crime, first comes to our mind it is illegal, it is against our policy against
constitution and it’s against god but why does there are so many people who can’t just stop
committing/crimes? What are the reasons why people are into crime? How could this be stopped? And
we as a student what could we contribute in terms of this kind of issue? Can we do anything about this?

The Philippines has a relatively high crime rate. Guns are widespread, violent crime is common and
Manila was once voted the kidnapping capital of Asia. Pickpockets operate on crowded streets and
buses and snatch-and-run thieves on motor scooters operate in Manila. Foreigners are sometimes the
targets of scams involving prostitutes and gangsters, sleight-of-hand money changing tricks and credit
card fraud. Outside the cities there is some banditry. Volunteer workers, missionaries and tourists have
been kidnapped and in rare cases murdered. Kidnapping gangs have targeted foreigners. Be cautious of
"express kidnaping" in which a tourist flags down a taxi driven by a criminal who works with an armed
accomplice and forces the tourist to withdraw money from an ATM. Beware of taxis with people other
than the driver. There are so many types of crimes such as theft, robbery, prostitution and many more.

Crime is a problem in any poor country. The Philippines is no exception. Nightly news is full of crime
reports committed on a daily basis. But as the country heads to a more prosperous future, many expect
crime to go down eventually. After all, experts surmised, people who lack are the ones committing these
despicable acts. When everyone is better off, fewer people will consider committing crimes because
there will be less reason for it. Learning from others, exploring the options and expectations on a strong
economy. - Police pay should be way better Little to no AA as being a forensic scientist or detective is a
deadly serious job that can't so many unskilled people on board, Make harsher penalties for common
crimes (such as housebreaking, Make sure police have the correct equipment when attending crimes,
Use helicopters whenever possible when chasing a suspect

People are into crime because there are so many people who does not have jobs or people who are
under influenced of drugs, or those who doesn’t have choice, the crime just can’t be stopped, but it
could be lessen, and the government should start their moves, first they should chase those who were
corrupt, second the poverty and then the unemployment in these cases, the crime would be lessen, and
we as a student we should limit ourselves, we should not make or do things that is not for us or if it is
illegal. We should distance ourselves who are a bad influence so we should not get in trouble.
Improper Garbage disposal, not all people are clean, some are not responsible enough, they just throw
their garbage anywhere and anytime they like not knowing how our country is suffering from too much
garbage, there are people who does not know how to recycle their garbage’s, it is a headache seeing
garbage everywhere. Yet they still continue doing it again and again, it seems like people are getting
used to garbage everywhere. It won’t matter anymore or the consequences about it.

Improper waste disposal is one of the biggest environmental issues here in the Philippines. It caused
bigger problems that affect not only the environment but also the health and life of the people. This
problem may be resolve or it will remain problem to the country in the next few years. Mismanagement
of the waste disposal has a serious effect on ground and surface water contamination, flooding, air
pollution, water pollution etc. People will suffer in the next years of existence if we continue this kind of
activity. Health security maybe not secured or guarded when it comes to drinking contaminated water
because of the improper disposal of the waste. Uncollected trash that clog waterways and drainage
systems is one of the major causes of floods and disease outbreaks whose effects could be felt beyond
the capital. Government should have time to make a study in this country’s problem, they must have
plans and actions to make sure that people, animals and our environment is safe and guarded all
throughout. People are also responsible for their own trash to put it in proper waste for their own sake.

RA 9003 was passed by the Philippine Congress on December 20, 2000 and was subsequently approved
by the Office of the President on January 26, 2001. This law was crafted response to the growing rate of
garbage problems in the country. Although there is a law about mismanagement of waste disposal
Philippines ranked the 3rd top source of plastic leaking into oceans in a February 2015 study.
Composting waste is an option for getting rid of your household waste. You can compost lots of items:
food waste, animal waste, yard waste, and much more. Basically, anything that is organic can be
composted and will break down into rich compost that can be used for a variety of things. For example,
people use their compost for fertilizer for their lawns and plants. Be sure that if you are going to
compost, you build a compost bin because it is a process that does take some time. Recycling waste is
another option for getting rid of waste. There are many different things that are recyclable: paper, tin,
aluminum, plastic, and much more. A lot of people aren't aware of all the different things that they can
recycle, and many do the obvious, which is paper and aluminum. If you are using a trash service
company, ask them if they can help you set up the recycling bins. You can also find a recycling center
that is near you and drop the waste off.

We should all be responsible on throwing or garbage’s since it is us who’ll suffer in the end anyway. We
should learn to segregate to tell people who are irresponsible to their part, so that when calamity comes
we wouldn’t be suffering too much. We should not give the government the responsibilities since there
are so many problems to be solved so we need help.
Air pollution occurs when harmful or excessive quantities of substances including gases, particulates,
and biological molecules are introduced into Earth's atmosphere. What are the reasons why air pollution
become one of Philippines problem, is there anything we can do to stop air pollution? Air pollution
affects each and every one of us,” said Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu. “We need stronger
coordination and wider collaboration so we can once and for all solve our air pollution problem.”

Air pollution is an environmental health risk around the world with 92% of the world’s population
exposed to air quality levels that exceed WHO’s ambient air quality guidelines. People in urban areas are
more exposed to dangerous levels of air pollution than those in rural areas. Air pollutants such as
sulfate, nitrates and black carbon, found in both indoor and outdoor settings, are extremely dangerous
to people’s health. When the size of the particulate matter in the air is 2.5 micrometers (PM2.5) and
below, it penetrates to a person’s lungs and cardiovascular system. According to WHO, the safe level for
PM2.5is10 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m3) of air in a year. In Manila, the annual average of these
pollutants is at 17 μg/m3, 70 percent more than the recommended safe level. Globally, over six million
deaths are linked to indoor and outdoor pollution due to non-communicable diseases such as heart
disease, stroke, lung cancer, and chronic respiratory diseases every year. In the Philippines, about 1 in 4
deaths are attributed to air pollution.

The DENR, DOH, and WHO are taking steps to decrease the environmental health risk of air pollution
including improving the linkage of air quality and health monitoring, reviewing the air quality index, and
strengthening the health impact assessment for projects and activities that may cause air pollution.
Starting this year until 2019, the Philippine government also leads the regional forum on health and
environment, bringing together countries in the Asia-Pacific Region where air pollution is one of the
agenda. Use natural mode of transport, Plant trees, Improve government’s role in controlling air
pollutions, and Cooperation of the people. Encourage people to use more and more public modes of
transportation to reduce pollution. Switch off fans and lights when you are going out. Do not throw
away items that are of no use to you. Clean energy technologies like solar, wind and geothermal are on
high these days. CFL lights consume less electricity as against their counterparts.

We being the students could help reduce air pollution by planting trees, by these we could not just help
our country but our planet also, we shouldn’t remain seated when there’s something we can do about
it. We all can help we just need to move and not to wait others move when we can do it ourselves. It is a
great contribution to our environment even though we think it was a small help but it is a big help.
Human overpopulation occurs when the ecological footprint of a human population in a specific
geographical location exceeds the carrying capacity of the place occupied by that group. Overpopulation
occurs when a species' population exceeds the carrying capacity of its ecological niche. It can result from
an increase in births (fertility rate), a decline in the mortality rate, an increase in immigration, or an
unsustainable biome and depletion of resources.[1] Moreover, it means that if there are too many
people in the same habitat, people are limiting available resources to survive.

OVERPOPULATION IN MANILA. The Philippines has one of the fastest growing populations in Southeast
Asia. ... By the year 2050, the global population is expected to pass nine billion people, a significant
increase from the six-and-a-half billion today. In the Philippines, they are already running out of space.
Too many people. Too little space. The Philippines has one of the fastest growing populations in
Southeast Asia. From having fifty million inhabitants in 1980, the Philippines today is home to around
ninety million people with 11 million living in Manila only. Living place is becoming increasingly
saturated. This overcrowding is causing a range of problems such as lack of education, lack of
healthcare, unemployment and general poverty. Photojournalist Mads Nisssen visited some of these
overcrowded areas in Manila and poses the question how will it be in thirty years’ time when the
Philippine population is expected to have doubled to over 180 million inhabitants. With every passing
second, there are more and more of us.

Better Education: One of the first measures is to implement policies reflecting social change. Educating
the masses helps them understand the need to have one or two children at the most. Making People
Aware of Family Planning: As population of this world is growing at a rapid pace, raising awareness
among people regarding family planning and letting them know about serious after effects of
overpopulation can help curb population growth. Tax Benefits or Concessions: Government of various
countries might have to come with various policies related to tax exemptions to curb overpopulation.
Knowledge of Sex Education: Imparting sex education to young kids at elementary level should be must.

As of the Philippines, over population is indeed a problem as there are people who are engaging their
selves into things that should not happen especially to teenagers these days, and those who are in urban
places, we can make a move, first we should not engage ourselves into something that is not for us,
especially on our age, pre-marital sex is what I mean, we should be aware of the consequences, we
should not treat everything as fun, we must set our limit, we need to be responsible.
