Review of related literature and studies

This chapter presents the review of the related literature and studies after the exhaustive and
broad-range done by the researchers of their specific study. This will also serve as the synthesis of the
act, theoretical and conceptual framework to fully understand the research that is to be done and to
grasp the definition of terms of the study.

Related Literature

Tourism study is an approach on a largely and wide number of people and country. Tourism is
used to promote destination and enhance their competitiveness and attractiveness. Tourisms can be
categorized into three: economic, socio-cultural and environmental. In terms of environment – new
facilities for the tourists also benefit while in economic – the tourisms generate a substantial economic
benefit to both host countries and tourists home countries. In socio-cultural they interact with the
tourists, mix with people from their diverse backgrounds which creates a cosmopolitan culture in the
diverse region. There are books that we can use as a tool for studying a different category, and impacts
for tourism in country.

In the book of Glen Kreag “The Impacts of tourism’’, tourism has created job in both small and
large area of community. Yet it is a major contributor in our industry when it comes to economic act. He
discussed the different general categories which are the economic, environmental, social and cultural,
crowding, and congestion, services, taxes, and community attitude. Economically he talked about the
positive impacts of tourism in employment opportunities mostly rural areas as one raise standards for
living. Environmental he discussed the protection, preservation and improvement in ecological and
historic buildings, areas, and appearances. All of the categories dicussed by Glen Kreag has large impact
in the development of our tourisms either in country or region. He also stated that society or community
has a big role when it comes to development in tourism and in their region and area.

Republic act 9593 “the Tourisms Act of 2009” approved by former President Gloria Macapagal
Arroyo on May 12, 2009 and Congress as Senate Bill 2213/ House Bill 5229 designate an act declaring a
national policy for tourism as an engine of investment, employment, growth, and national development
and strengthening the DOT, and its attached agencies to effectively that policy. This republic act will
help in improving the Philippines and each city and ensure the development of the Philippine tourism.
