available on this web site. Training must be completed by the deadline your agency’s
training officer has been provided.

Before beginning the training, make sure you have your six-digit Chemical Test Operator
Number and your training Certification Expiration Date your training officer has been

1. BEGIN TRAINING BY LOCATING THE ONLINE TRAINING SITE: Training can

be accessed through the Office of Attorney General’s Crime Laboratory Division web

2. USE OR CREATE A LOGIN TO ACCESS THE SITE: The Online Training

Management System will appear and require you to either use or create a login.

See “B” Directly Below

A. ALREADY HAVE A LOGIN: If you are a state, county, or city employee; or if

you use or access CJIS or the 24/7 Sobriety Program, you should already have an
account established. You may click on Login with my NDGOV account and use
your login and password as you normally would.

B. CREATE A LOGIN: If you do not have a NDGOV account or a State of North

Dakota Login ID, you will need to create a State Login ID. Click on Login with
my State of North Dakota Login ID and then click on the Register Now link
and continue to follow the instructions provided.

An email containing the activation link is sent to the email address you provide. You
must have access to that email address because you cannot complete the login process
until you have clicked on the link in the email to activate the new login account. We
suggest you use your first initial and last name as a login ID and an easily-remembered
password in case you have to leave the site and resume later. Once your login account has
been activated, you can then proceed with the online testing.

If you are unsure if your user account is a NDGOV account, or you experience technical
difficulties when creating a user account, contact the State Information Technology
Service Desk at 1-877-328-4470. If you experience technical difficulties while in the
training session, contact the Attorney General’s Help Desk at 701-328-5556 Monday-
Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by email (mailto:ndag@nd.gov). DO NOT CALL THE
CRIME LAB FOR THIS INFORMATION.

3. ENTER YOUR CHEMICAL TEST OPERATOR INFORMATION: The next screen

will appear only if you are new to the online training, and will request your Chemical
Test Operator information. You will need to enter your six-digit Chemical Test
Operator Number where it requests Enter Your Access Code, e.g. 107501. You will
also need to enter your Certification Expiration Number where it requests Enter Your
Authentication Code. You must type the expiration in the following format, MM-DD-
YY, e.g. 06-30-10 (Invalid Access and/or Authentication Code will appear if you used
slashes). Press Enter or Validate to continue.

5. ASSIGNED COURSES APPEAR: Next, the Assigned Courses screen appears. There
may be one or more courses available to you. The dates which a course is available are
also displayed on this screen. (If you have to leave the training session and come back
later, the date and time you last logged in will appear under the date range.)

Click on Begin Course to view material. If you’ve clicked on the link to the material and
received a message regarding your computer needing a PDF file reader, you will need to
install one. To do so, click on one of the Click here to install the viewer links and
follow the instructions to install the Adobe Reader program. Properly installing a file
reader program (e.g. Adobe Reader) will ensure your files open correctly and you are
able to view the presentations. Each file will open in a separate window. When you have
viewed all course material, click on the link marked I have reviewed all the material.

bottom of the page. Click on Take the Quiz. It is an “open book” quiz so you can leave
the training material open as you’re taking the quiz and refer back to it if needed (course
material is also printable should you wish to refer to a hard copy).

A. SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THE QUIZ: The quiz screen now opens to

the first question. Use your mouse to click on the appropriate answer circle.
Click Next and continue answering questions. You may also click on Return to

Upon correctly answering a sufficient number of questions and completing the quiz, the
system displays a congratulatory message, your name, and score. The information has
been captured by the system and training hours are reported to the POST Board
(providing you had entered your number during the registration). From this page
you can also follow the link to update your personal information, you can complete a
short survey, and you can print a copy of the results of this training session. You
cannot return to the score screen, so you may want to print it now.

next session from here (Assigned Courses page indicates courses completed, date, and
time; if you wish to print this, use the print option in your browser program.)

B. UNSUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE QUIZ: You are allowed three

incorrect answers. After this, the test will close, a message will appear indicating
unsuccessful completion, and you will be required to click Return, at which point
you will be returned to the “Assigned Courses” screen to begin the course over
and retake the quiz. Please go back to #5, above.

7. LOGGING OUT AND CARDS: Clicking Logout will complete training; you’ll be
taken to the Online Course page and date/time of training completion will be displayed
(use your browser program to print this if desired). You will be mailed a new
Chemical Test Operator Certificate (wallet card); this is a permanent card
(replacement cost $20). Do not operate instruments until you receive the card; this
will ensure your name has been placed on the List of Certified Chemical Test
Operators sent to all county recorders.
