An experiment is carried out to investigate the effects of concentration of ions on the selective
dischargeof ions at the electrodes. The set-up of apparatus of the experiment are shown in Diagram.

The experiment is carried out by using copper (II) chloride solutions of 1.0 mol dm -3 and 0.001 mol
dm-3. The gas collected at anode is tested with damp blue litmus paper and glowing splinter.
