Discipline Policy
At Luz Home Daycare we believe that discipline is a measure taken for positive as well as
negative behavior. Positive and negative behavior will be reinforcerd or discouraged
respectively bye encouragement from other children and the provider. If a child demonstrates
frustration in a certain area of the daycare, he/she will be re-directed to a different area of the
daycare bye the Provider or will be provided a substitute activity or object for the child’s anger
or frustration.

The daycare Provider will use a variety of approaches to help children learn to manage their
own behavior, which includes:

 Praising children for appropriate, desirable behavior

 Re-directing inappropriate behavior
 Serving as role models for desirable behaviors
 Using logical consequences when appropriate
 Using a firm hold, if uncontrollable behavior arises that endangers the child or others.

These are some of the most effective techniques because they are constructive and they allow
the child opportunity to re-focus their behavior without a ´´´negative´´ correction from the
provider.

There are also constant pats on the back, hugs and words of encouragement from the Provider
to the children, the children to the Provider, or from children to children.

Physical Abuse (shaking, biting, jerking, etc.), psychological abuse, (threats, humiliation,
shaming, etc.), and denial of food or rest punishment are examples of forceful.

Disciplinary actions that will NOT be use at Luz Home Daycare. The daycare follows all
guidelines established bye DCFS.
Child Abuse Report

All children Providers are mandatory reporters and are required by law to report suspected
child abuse or neglect.

Birthdays and Holidays

As such, the daycare will celebrate the child’s birthday and will provide cake and decorations.
Parents are invited to bringing candies or toys to the rest of the children be welcomed.
