I get asked all the time; “Troy, where do you get your design inspiration
from?” and I have to pause, because I am surrounded by so many creative
outlets, whether it is tricked out carbon bikes, motorcycles, cool cars,
new artists, paint colors, music, the list goes on and on. This year for our
bicycle line I felt the most inspiration while out on the trail-in the wild.
My youngest kids are riding their bikes a lot more and seeing the ride
experience through their eyes is like a bicycle rebirth for me, I am loving
it. From our family rides on our local Laguna trails, to the pilgrimage we
make to Whistler, Canada, I find inspiration in the shapes, colors and
sounds that are all over the outdoors…they say you have to stop and
smell the roses, I am slowly figuring that out.
Inspiration also comes from our amazing athletes we are partnered

with all over the world. They racked up more wins and main stream
exposure for us than we ever could have imagined, showing people
whats possible on a bicycle. The athletes push us daily to innovate and
create-that definitely inspires us. Ultimately, your safety, comfort and style
is my priority, which is what propels us the most. The whole crew here at
TLD has done an incredible job bringing you another year of new riding
equipment for 2016. I hope you enjoy it and hope to see you on the trails!

If a TLD custom painted helmet is known for a single identifying characteristic,
it would probably be our clean, bold racing stripes. This one to the left was
done for SRAM/TLD Racing’s UCI Rookie DH Rider of the year, Luca Shaw, for the
World Championships.
CHARACTER GRAPHICS
TLD artists can create a hand painted cartoon of anything your mind can
dream up. On this D3 Carbon helmet we did for Enduro MTB Legend
Jerome Clementz, he dreamed up a Metallica themed helmet that he
used for the EWS World Tour Finale, that became Jerome’s “favorite
helmet ever”.
PINSTRIPE GRAPHICS
Pinstriping is an art form unto itself and we can create a unique pinstripe
design based on your needs or shapes of the helmet. TLD is the definitive
choice for pinstripe work. On this A1 Helmet we took our matte black A1,
and added some metallic gold for a unique spin on classic pinstripe work.
NAME / GOLD LEAF

Nothing customizes a helmet more than your own name on it, and TLD
paint offers a variety of lettering styles to suit any racer’s needs. With a
huge array of type styles and finishes, some of the more premium finishes
are gold leaf, silver leaf and copper leaf, which are hand spun and totally
custom.

DESIGN
A Troy Lee Designs custom painted helmet can be anything you can imagine. You can send us your own idea,
photo, drawing, cartoon, and/or a photo of the image you want us to duplicate. You can mix and match de-
signs of your favorite racers, or tell us to come up with something totally original.
PREPARATION
For the very best results, we recommend that you begin with a new solid white or black helmet. We do not
recommend you remove any molding or do any sanding yourself. Helmet shells are also welcome.

GETTING STARTED
To order, call us with your helmet model, what your interest is, the budget you have in mind, and when you
would like it completed. You can also submit your information online. Next, include your ideas (be as specific
as possible), photos, drawings, colors, names, sponsor logos, and any other pertinent information that will
need to be considered in the quote process. If you need an exact color match be sure to mail a color chip with
your helmet. Note that turn around time varies with your helmet and we will make every effort to meet your
desired completion date.
PAYMENT
A 50% deposit is required before we can start creating your masterpiece or share any design ideas. We accept
Visa, Master Card, American Express, Check, or Money Order. We also offer a rush program @ $250 fee.

PROTECTION MIPS is a revolutionary technology that lets the
helmet slide relative to the head, adding more
protection against rotational violence to the
brain caused by angled impacts.

The graphic was generated using a finite element computer model based on measurements
obtained from nine accelerometers in a Hybrid III crash test dummy head. The dummy head
wearing a helmet was subjected to an angled impact using the MIPS test rig. The model
illustrates strain in the brain from a similar angled impact when the dummy head is wearing a
helmet without MIPS and a helmet with MIPS.
