Browser access
This document explains about know limitations and features that are unavailable in browser access. This
document provides general information only and may be subject to change at any time without notice if
any additional limitations are found.
Please read all sections carefully as some features are limited or unavailable in browser access and this may
influence the completion of customer requirements and affect the user-experience.

In general, the SDK for Browser Access is a limited version of the Desktop SDK so it does not offer full
backward compatibility. This means that certain events and features simply does not happen in browser
access.

General
We do not offer the configurations tools from within the Browser Access. Instead, you will need to do the
configurations via the desktop Client and only the end user features will be available in the browser.

Please see the topics below for a more detailed description of limitations.

Know limitations
The bullet points below are due to SAP limitations in the UI-API and no workarounds are possible.

 B1UP often have menu-structures with many menu-items. On low resolutions, SAP does not offer
scrollbars so you cannot see all menu items. Workaround is to zoom out in the browser so you can
see all menu items
 There are limitations on when statusbar (red/green/blue) messages can be shown so you will
experience that add-on feel unresponsive (because it cannot tell you what it is doing)
 Combo buttons (Function Buttons: Multibutton) are incorrectly shown by the SDK as a combobox
instead of a button. They still work through but feels very unintuitive.
 ? Help buttons will not show as a sidebar. This is due to a new SDK limitation that we can control
the position of a form when we open it. The content is still correct but usability is low.
 Icon transparency does not work and icons using the transparent color will look odd.

Crystal reports - General

SAP have a feature in the UI-API that allows us to send a Crystal report for download but we are unable to
show it in the browser access window. This means that all Crystal Report functionality around showing
reports are limited to a download instead of a show. This also includes all functionality in B1P&D.

B1 Validation system
Events in the browser works a bit different from the normal events, as they are not blocking the UI. This
makes it hard to make certain scenarios happened like Read Only.

List of events that does not work (there might be more):

 Key Down
 Form Key Down

Important: During validation events, it is not possible to block the event and force users to stay in specific
field. We do not have a workaround for this new SAP limitation.
You need to re-work all your block validations to work from the add/update button instead.

Tab control
Cannot be configured in Browser access as the double-click event is not available.

Mandatory fields
SAP have a limitation that prevents us from applying colors to a system form. Mandatory Fields do work but
the module are unable to highlight what fields are mandatory with color.

B1 Document manager
Feature is unavailable as it ask for files.

B1 Print & Delivery

Due to the fact that this is running in a browser we cannot offer integration into MS Outlook and we have
decided to also not offer support for Exchange and SMTP methods at the moment.
All actions will be redirected to the “Print preview” action in the report configuration. This means that no
matter what action you do or press in the client it will always run the “Print preview button” action.
Print, save, email etc. are currently all unavailable in the browser and only show are supported.
Mass delivery, dunning wizard integration, document printing and account balance are also unavailable in
the browser.

B1 Search
Feature is unavailable as the B1 Search toolbar and search window does not work properly due to new
limitation in the SDK (not possible to have floating windows anymore).

Function buttons
The “Data launcher” function is not available as it ask for files.

Letter merge
Feature is unavailable as it ask for files.

Master data manager

Consultant tool that is not available in browser access

Make Items Read Only

This module does not work correctly prior to SAP 9.2 PL05 as the events are not able to block correctly.

Quick Create
As the “Key down” event for “End” is not possible in the browser you will need to use the right-click option
instead.
Quick Create right-click only works on Business Partner and is not possible on items.

PLD Extension
Feature is unavailable as it ask for files.

Universal Function – Macro

Unable to show debugger
Important: The Block() command does not work in Browser Access

Universal Function – File Exporter

Unable to show files after export

Universal Function – Crystal Report

Block event not possible.
Only show report works. All other options will be redirect to show report instead. All export is done to the
PDF format and the “File type” field will not be taken into consideration.

Toolbox – editors
Unable to show advanced editors

Website/email button are not available
