DIVISION 5.

METALS

A. SCOPE OF WORK: All works, as may be applicable to this division shall include
metal roof framing members. Works not stated but falling under this division shall
be confirmed first by the Architect prior to execution. Supersede this section if no
application can be associated to the above stated project, it will in turn, be just a
referral division.

B. CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

1. MATERIALS: All materials for use in this section shall conform ASTM A36
steel plates and sections, ASTM A325 high strength bolts and American
Welding Society publications.

a. ROOF FRAMING: All metal roof framing materials to be used under this
division shall be new and free from defects and imperfections. They shall
be exact in size and dimension as may be indicated in the plans and
drawings. Quality shall be in conformity with the above stated publication.
Materials for roof framing shall be Angle bars for steel trusses and Lip-cee
for purlins, sizes and dimensions as to cut and welding positions shall be
as to plans and drawings.

b. MISCELLANEOUS: This scope of work, as may be applicable to above


stated project, shall cover metal stair railings, metal terrace railings and
metal handrails. Materials for use under this work shall conform to above
stated publications standards and as indicated in plans and drawings. All
metal railings shall be B.I. Pipe, Grade 40.

2. SUBSTITUTIONS: No substitution of applicable materials and procedure of


work shall be execute without the approval of the Architect.

3. DELIVERY AND HANDLING: Deliver materials to their final destination in a


suitable manner so as to prevent damage. Stack and pile materials in a
location away from direct contact with earth and sheltered from moisture.

4. EXECUTION: All procedures and works, as may be applicable to above


stated project, shall be in conformity with the standards set forth by the
Architect. The Architect reserves the right to reject and refuse defective and
the foreman shall promptly remedy such defective work.

a. ROOF FRAMING: All work under roof framing as may be applicable to


above stated project, shall be in conformity to standards set forth by the
Architect. All members shall be installed true to size and dimension and
spaced indicated in the plans and drawings. Joint shall be appropriately
fastened together either by approved fasteners or by welding provided that
the Engineer shall supervise the work in progress. Prime members with
approved commercial metal primers prior to final coat and assembly.

b. MISCELLANEOUS: All works and procedures, as may be applicable to


the above stated project, shall conform to standards set forth by the
Architect. All members shall be installed true to size and dimension and
suitably spaced as indicated in the plans and drawings. Design of railings
and other architectural details shall be strictly followed and no
substitutions shall be made without the approval of the Architect. Apply
approved primers on all metal member before application of final coat.
Connections shall be as indicated in the plans and drawings.

DIVISION 6. WOOD

A. SCOPE OF WORK: The scope of work included in this division may be


applicable to the above stated project covers all carpentry works for columns
(posts), beams, roof framing, ceiling joists, floor framing and wall framing. Works
not stated but falling under this division shall be associated to the above stated
project, it will in turn, be just a referral division.

B. CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

1. MATERIALS: All materials for use under this division shall conform to
Philippines Standards Administrative Orders SAO 7- iron wire nails, SAO 223-
timber products, SAO 321 lumber treatment and SAO 370 kiln drying.

a. CEILING: All materials for ceiling, floor and wall as may be applicable to
above stated project, shall be new and free from defects and
imperfections. They shall be exact in size and quality be in accordance
with above listed publications.

b. CABINETS AND CLOSETS: Materials for cabinets and closets shall be


new and free from defects and imperfections. Use Ordinary plywood for
backing, size and thickness as indicated in the plans and drawings.

2. SUBSTITUTIONS: No substitutions of applicable materials and procedures


of work shall be executed without the approval of the Architect.

3. HANDLING AND DELIVERY: Handle and deliver materials to their final


destination in good workable conditions. Stack and pile lumber and timber in
a suitable location protected from excessive moisture.

4. EXECUTION: All work procedure, as may be applicable to the above stated


project, shall be in conformity set forth by the Architect. The Architect
reserves the right to refuse and reject faulty and defective workmanship and
the foreman shall promptly remedy the matter. All connections shall be
securely fastened together by approved fasteners and inspected by the
Architect.

a. CEILING: All framing timber shall be installed in conformity to plans and


drawings. They shall be laid level and joined together with approved
fasteners as may be indicated in the plans and drawings. Framing lumber
shall be treated with commercial brand wood preservative prior to
installation of final finish ceiling materials.

b. CABINETS AND CLOSETS: Cabinets and closet shall be laid and


constructed according to plans and drawings. Quality of workmanship
shall be in conformity to standards set forth by the Architect.
