ACTIVITY 4
1. What is the purpose of modeling system requirements?
Answer.
Systems modeling or system modeling is the interdisciplinary study of the
use of models to conceptualize and construct systems in business and IT
development. [2]

 To explain why the context of a system should be modeled as part

of the RE process.
 To describe behavioral modeling, data modeling and object
modelling.
 To introduce some of the notations used in the Unified Modeling
Language (UML).
 To show how CASE workbenches support system modelling.

System modeling helps the analyst to understand the functionality of

the system and models are used to communicate with customers.

2. Identify five (5) models used in systems analysis. What do

you think is the use and purpose of these models in analysis?
(as a whole)
Answer.
Systems analysis is the process of studying a procedure
or business in order to identify its goals and purposes and
create systems and procedures that will achieve them in an efficient
way.
3. Identify five (5) models used in system design. What do you
think is the use and purpose of these models in design? (as a
whole)
Answer.
Systems design is the process of defining the architecture, components,
modules, interfaces, and data for a system to satisfy
specified requirements. Systems design could be seen as the application
of systems theory to product development. There is some overlap with
the disciplines of systems analysis, systems architecture and systems
engineering.
1. Screen Layout- The screen design is part of the user interface
development, and is a result of the storyboarding described in
Section.
2. Report Layout- Title Page, Figures and Tables, Equations and
formulate, Chapter numbering system, Font, and also Appendices.
3. System Flowchart- is a way of displaying how data flows in
a system and how decisions are made to control events. To
illustrate this, symbols are used. They are connected together to
show what happens to data and where it goes. The basic ones
include: Symbols used in flow charts.
4. Structure Chart- is a chart which shows the breakdown of a system
to its lowest manageable levels. They are used in structured
programming to arrange program modules into a tree. Each module
is represented by a box, which contains the module's name.
5. Database Schema- is the skeleton structure that represents the
logical view of the entire database. It defines how the data is
organized and how the relations among them are associated. It
formulates all the constraints that are to be applied on the data.

The use and the purpose of these models in design is that we are
recently formed company; Design brings forth what does not
come naturally. While science is concerned with how things
are, design is concerned with how things ought to be.

4. Think of sales and ordering system of a canteen, identify

one (1) temporal event, one (1) external event, and one (1)
state event.
Answer.

Temporal Event
-are events that occur as a result of reaching a point of time.
1. Every each month producing the report must be needed.

External Event
- are events that occur outside the system, usually initiated by an external
agent or actor.

Initiating-events external to typical plant system operations

–Includes fires, floods, earthquakes, etc.
•Fires and floods inside and outside of the plant
•Separated from “internal-events”analysis because:
–Unique and specialized methods of analysis
–Common cause or wide-area effects.
1. A customer must be form a line to take an order.

State Event
- an event that occurs when something happens inside the system that
triggers the need for processing.
1. Every first month must be record the newly stock items or order stock items if
the customer needed.
5. In an online enrolment system, provide one (1) sample of
each of the following:

• Tangible things. -Documents

• Roles played. - Students
• Organizational units. - Department
• Devices. PC/Laptop or PDA ( Personal Device Assistant)
• Incidents, Events, or Interactions. Emergency comes
