PRODUCT STRUCTURE

The circuit breaker adopts three-phase porcelain pillar-type structure and outdoor design. Three phases commonly match
with a spring operating mechanism, centre location, three-phase linkage, so the appearance is novel and exquisite. The
circuit breaker takes SF6 gas as insulation & arc extinguish medium, SF6 gas of three phase will connect during operation
and the gas pressure and density are monitored by a pointer-type density controller. The arc self-extinguish principle and
optimum design of movement system effectively improve the mechanical efficiency and furthest reduce the operating power
consumption.
As shown in Fig.1, three phase poles are installed at the common base, the control box is hoisted under the centre of
base, and the spring operating mechanism and control unit are inside, the output shaft of mechanism connects with the
crutch arm of central pole.
1. Base
The base is used for supporting three poles and connecting with the control box, is bent of steel plate and can meet IP4X
protection degree. The pressure gauge, name plate and three mounting holes can be viewed from the front of base. Three

2
phase SF6 gas inflatable pipeline and pointer type density controller are installed in the base. When un-connecting with the
inflatable valve of pole, the gas in the inflatable pipeline is in a sealed state, and the value displayed on the pressure gauge
is the pressure in the pipeline. There is a T-junctor under the pressure gauge, the vacant joint of which is the inflatable one
of circuit breaker.
The pointer type SF6 density controller (with a pressure gauge) is use for monitoring the density of SF6 gas in the
equipment and sending out control signal, and has the function of temperature compensation. When the SF6 gas pressure
changes due to the variation of environmental temperature, the controller will not act. Only when the gas pressure changes
due to SF6 gas leakage, the controller will send out alarm & locking signal.
The control box is connected to the base by six M20 bolts, and there are moisture-proof & waterproof devices at both the
joint between output shaft of mechanism and B-phase crutch arm and the exits of secondary circuits.
Attention:
1) When un-connecting with the pole, the value displayed on the pressure gauge is the pressure in the pipeline.
2) The value displayed on the pressure gauge is the pressure under 20 .

Fig.5 Arc Extinguish Principle
1. Arc-extinguish principle
Once receiving opening command, the rigid moving parts that comprise pneumatic cylinder, movable arc contact, drawbar,
etc. will move downward under the effect of opening spring. During movement process, the fixed main contact finger will
firstly separate from the movable main contact and current will transfer to two closed arc contacts, then the arc contacts
will separate and generate arc.
As breaking heavy short-circuit current, arc energy between arc contacts is strong, hot airflow of arc zone will flow into
the thermal expansion room, where heat exchange is done and generates low-temperature, high-pressure gas. Then the
one-way valve will close because the pressure in thermal expansion room is higher than that in pressure chamber. When
current exceeds zero, the high pressure gas in thermal expansion room will blow to gaps to extinguish arc. During opening
operation, the gas pressure in pressure chamber will be compressed little by little, however, the spring release valve at bottom
will open when the gas pressure reaches a certain value, and pressing gas and releasing gas will be done at same time to
eliminate more counterforce of pressure gas, so as to greatly decrease operating power (see Fig. 5-B).
As breaking low current (usually lower than few thousands of ampere), it generates low gas pressure in thermal expansion
room due to low arc energy. Here, the pressure in pressure chamber is higher than that in thermal expansion room, the one
-way valve will open and the compressed gas will blow to gaps. When current exceeds zero, the gas will blow to gaps to
extinguish the arc (see Fig. 5-C).
2. Energy storage of closing spring
AC/DC dual-use motor drives the shaft of pawl rotating, transmit torque to the big and small pawls through 90 commutation
to push the ratchet rotating, then make the closing spring compress and start storing energy by drawbar. After passing through
the dead center position, motor will cut off power supply by a micro switch. (motor has over-current protection and 15s forced
power-off function.) The shaft of pawl is given an anti-clockwise rotational torque by the closing spring, and the torque is locked
by the closing holding detent through B-pin.
3. Closing operation
The electrified closing coil will drive the closing detent clockwise rotating to release the closing holding detent, then jack
up B-pin to release the ratchet, and the held closing spring will release energy to drive the cam rotating. The cam strikes the
roller to make the crutch arm clockwise rotate, then drives the drawbar to make the fixed and movable contacts quickly

7
close, consequently, closing operation is completed.
In addition, the opening spring connected with the crutch arm will be simultaneously compressed and store energy
during the closing operation, .
4. Opening operation
After receiving opening command, the opening coil will be electrified, drive the opening detent clockwise rotating and
the opening holding detent will also clockwise rotate to release A-pin. The inner crutch arm will clockwise rotate under effect
of the opening spring, then drive the drawbar to make the fixed and movable contacts quickly separate, consequently,
opening operation is completed.
5. Reclosing operation
When both closing spring and opening spring are in energy storage state, reclosing operation will be completed once
the command of O-0.3s-CO is applied.

Do both opening operation and closing operation for five times, and do standard cycle operation for three times.
2. Inspection and test after installation
2.1 Mechanical operating characteristics
Record energy storage time, opening time and closing time during opening/closing operation.
2.2 Resistance of main circuit
Measure and record the resistance of main circuit with main-circuit resistance tester in closing state.
2.3 Insulation resistance
Measure and record the insulation resistance between gaps and to ground in opening and closing state.
2.4 P.F. withstand voltage
If possible, do power frequency withstand voltage test and record the data.
2.5 Inspect the performance of pointer type density controller
Close the valve of crutch arm box, connect the vent joint with the gas charging joint in the base, slightly remove the nut
to make SF6 gas inside the pipe slowly leak. Once SF6 gas pressure falls to the alarming pressure, alarm will arise; When
the pressure falls to the locking value, check whether CB is locked or not, then remove the vent joint and open the valve of
crutch arm box(one phase), monitor whether the pointer-type density controller will reset or not.
After the above mentioned inspection work, open the valves of crutch arm boxes on three poles, if SF6 gas pressure is
below 0.6MPa, charge the pole with gas to rated pressure with gas charging device. After gas charging is completed, remove
the gas charging device and keep it well, meanwhile, put on the protection nut of gas charging joint inside the base.
2.6 Leakage detection
Detect the leak tightness of all sealing surface of CB with the leakage detection, special for the gas charging pipeline
and joints. If any, remove the joint, and check whether there is something on the sealing surface or O-type gasket is damaged.
After the corresponding disposal, detect the leak tightness again. If find that there is any leak on the sealing surface of pole,
please advise the manufacturer to resolve it in time.
2.7 Micro moisture measurement
Connect the pressure-reducing valve, pipeline and micro-moisture tester with the gas charging valve to measure the
moisture content inside the gas room. The measured data shall be compared according to ambient temperature. The moisture
content shall not exceed 150ppm (V/V, 20 ) while check & acceptance, and it shall not exceed 300ppm (V/V, 20 ) during
operation.
2.8 Check whether the changeover of both temperature & humidity controller and heater are normal.
2.9 Connect the primary busbar and the primary terminals of CB, the connection direction is up to the spot situation.
While connecting, polish the contact surface with the emery cloth until shinning and clean it with a white cloth dipped with a
little absolute ethanol.
2.10 Wash all the porcelains with clear water.
2.11 Before commissioning, check test items again, recheck the test data, and fill in the Installation Inspection & Test
Report in duplicate, the users and manufacturer respectively hold one for reference as original data.
3. Clearance of site
So far the installation of CB was completed, you should put on all the covers and keep all the removed parts in a safe
place for future use.

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE

1. Routine inspection and maintenance during operation

1.1 Visually check whether the porcelains have the defects in operation, such as the crack.
1.2 Observe the gas charging pressure of circuit breaker and record it.
1.3 Observe the opening/closing indicators on the control box and the position of crutch arm on the crutch arm box, to
make sure that the state of circuit breaker is normal.
1.4 Observe the degree of corrosion of the fasteners and frame, and record them.
1.5 Periodically inspect whether the changeover of heater is normal or not.
1.6 Observe whether the connection of primary wires may strike fire or not.

2. maintenance
SF6 circuit breaker is maintenance free circuit breaker, but once maintenance every three years can ensure that the
circuit breaker operates in good state. Maintenance shall be carried out under power cutoff for several hours. The maintenance
items mainly include as follows:
2.1 Inspect and clean the surface of porcelains.
2.2 Inspect the corrosion status. Repair the paints if any corrosion; Replace the fasteners if any rust.
Warning: Please replace the fasteners one by one. That replace them at the same time may cause personal injury or
damage the equipment because the poles are gas-tighness pressure containers.
2.3 Inspect whether the fasteners are loose or not, if yes, fasten it.
2.4 Inspect whether the primary terminal plate is overheated and off-color, if yes, polish the contact surface again and
fasten them.
2.5 Lubricate the moving parts of mechanism.
2.6 Measure the moisture content and record the data.
2.7 Measure the main circuit resistance and record the data.
2.8 Inspect whether the secondary connections are firm or not, whether the electric instruction is reliably conducted.

3.0 Heavy repair

The heavy repair is mainly overhaul for the interrupter. While repairing, the user would better do it under the site instruction
of the professional dispatched by the manufacturer. The circuit breaker will need the overhaul under the following situations:
1) Continuously operate for 20 years;
2) Mechanical operation time is over 2000 times;
3)Full-capacity(40kA) accumulative breaking time is over 20 times.

ANNEX-1 FEATURES OF SF6 GAS

SF6 gas was invented in this century, which is widely used in high voltage and extra-high voltage switch equipments
due to its outstanding insulation performance and arc extinguishing performance. Under normal temperature, SF6 gas is
a colorless, odorless, innocuous and transparent inert gas, which has upstanding chemical stability. The atomic weight of
SF6 is 146, namely about 5 times of atmosphere, so the gas leaked in the atmosphere will deposit on the earth's surface.
As same as others gas, the pressure of SF6 gas will change along with temperature. For this circuit breaker, the state
curve of SF6 gas is as follows
