A6 Aluminium Work

Preamble

Notes Refer to Drawings.


a) The Tenderer shall ascertain the actual dimensions of the
aperture openings on site prior to the submission of the Tender.

b) All rates shall mean to include all costs, both direct and
indirect, in connection with the manufacture, transport, placing,
alignment, fixing and sealing of all Aluminium works in this Bill
of Quantities.

c) All rates shall mean to include all costs, both direct and
indirect for the cleaning of all floors, fittings, windows, doors,
glazing, casements and accessories from shavings, dust, finger
marks and carting away of waste material.

Doors and Windows


Double-glazing shall consist of two sheets (6mm thick external
sheet and 6mm internal sheet) laminated glass with 12mm gap
with partial vacuum.

The glazing shall be hermetically sealed with aluminium


spacers set in EPDM gaskets, the gaskets shall be continuous
along the whole of the perimeter of the glazing panes to which
they are applied.

The glazed aluminium units shall be hinged and shall have an


outward opening mechanism. Aluminium Units are to be
installed on the inner face of the external wall. Design is to
ensure that all external faces of the glass can be cleaned
safely; supplied with detachable opening devices, and restrictor
stays fitted to ensure that the opening complies with the
necessary health and safety requirements unless otherwise
indicated. Top hung sections shall have a side hanging
mechanism.

The apertures shall have lever type of handles. All hardware


and its fastenings shall be of suitable material resistant to
atmospheric corrosion.

Apertures shall be supplied complete with all ironmongery.

All apertures shall be lockable.

The aluminium frame system shall be capable of absorbing
thermal movements. The frame shall be using compatible and
suitably sized adjustable frame screws and plastic spacers.
The gaps between the frame and the stone/concrete shall be
sealed with mineral wool to prevent any air movement.

The aluminium units shall be black anodised finish


mechanically treated as per specifications with minimum
coating of 15 microns. The surface shall have a matt texture.

Double glazed window units shall be manufactured from 3-


compartment extruded aluminium sections. The windows shall
be supplied complete with all ironmongery.

Rates are to include for all aluminium sections to be in black


finish. Rates for doors and windows are to include for all
necessary glazing, ironmongery and for sealing with weather
proof sealant both internally and externally.
