So, I have used Telegram Messenger for two extra functions other than its main function as a
chat application:

as a Push Notification Server;

as Bot for automating information process.

Push Notification

People nowadays are familiar to Push Notification. While using our gadget then the mini
fleeting screen that instantly appears at the top of our screen that informs us about something
and then disappears.

I had a thought that people nowadays are less frequently logging in, logging out and then
logging back into an application, let say, be it an e-mail application. We are now too busy or
too bored to do that kind of routine. We tend to let the notification let us know what
information we need to know at an instant and then click on it to let us know deeper what is
the content of fleeting notification.

Now let us call a notification that motivates people to click on it, read on it and then do
something about is a push notification.

For example:

7148 audience that will be notified 8 times every day all year by SMS in Indonesia will cost
you:

7148 x 8 x 365 x 150 IDR = 3,130,824,000 IDR

will you ever spend that amount of money if the alternative is free?

Telegram as a Push Notification Server

I saw the need of a free push notification since we have to notify people spread all over my
Mensagens
region every day since there was no push notification to let them be aware of the status of
their electronic channels (ATMs).

Since every budget calculation will be defeated when the alternative is free, and since I love
to be free, I choose Telegram to be my push notification server.

A free of charge license-fee Linux server that will crawl my web monitoring system then
grab the information of 2100 ATMs within my coverage area into text file then send it to
around 470 recipient address. That was my use case.

Telegram Bot

Being an innovative manager, I am not satisfied with only a one-way push notification, I
want more and I needed an interactive automated bot to empower all about a hundred
personnel of my IT team within our 36 branches.

I have created about 8 command format to automate the request for information and enhance
the productivity of my IT people in maintaining the availability of our ATM/CDMs:

!status atm [TID = terminal ID]

!status cdm [TID = terminal ID]

!status nop [Branch Code]

!status off [Branch Code]

!status best

!status worst

!rekap atm

!ping atm [TID = terminal ID]
