“Understanding PH-US-CHINA political and economic dynamics”

The United States is one of the oldest countries that have partner with the Republic of the
Philippines. In the late 1980s, Philippine and United States has conflict and concern for the
safety of United States military and civilian personnel in the Philippines at least ten other
United States citizens were killed by communists in the Philippines between 1986 and 1991.
United States Peace Corps volunteers were withdrawn in 1990, and One of the victim was
admit that He kidnapped by the New People's Army but he emerged unharmed and in 1990 the
United States government authorized hazardous duty pay for diplomats, troops, and other
federal employees in the Philippines , The United States and Philippines are still strong.

There are an estimated four million Americans of Philippine ancestry in the United States, and
more than 300,000 American citizens in the Philippines, The President of the Philippines is
President Rodrigo Duterte last October 2016 , Duterte announced his Separation from the
United States he said “In this venue, your honors, I announce my separation from the
United States, both in military, not maybe social, but economics also,” Duterte Choose
China over America .

The diplomatic relations between China and Philippines was established on June 9, 1975 the two
countries have cooperated closely in various regional and international issues that have profound
effects to the stability and economic development of the region. The Conflict between the two
countries was ownership of the South China Sea and the West Philippine Sea, China is claiming

all the islands and waters enclosed by the nine U-shaped lines that enclose 85.7 percent of the
entire South China Sea. In 2013, the Philippines brought the maritime dispute before the PCA
because of China's actions. China, however, insisted that it has historic rights that predates
UNCLOS, citing the 9-dashed lines claim. July 12, 2017 announced that It has finally been decided
that the Philippines has sovereign rights over the West Philippine Sea (in the South China Sea)
and that China’s “nine-dash line” is invalid, according to the United Nations (UN) Arbitral
Tribunal. This is the remarkable victory of the Philippines.

The two nations are both well-heeled but when it comes to economy china surpass when it comes
to exporting than importing of goods .Regarding the role of Exporting China play a big role in the
world market. Having a large population of workers, minimal labor fee, and low manufacturing
materials. China can produce hundreds of materials to be imported which can add up to their GDP.
Although china has a larger GDP the United States has greater national wealth.

I prefer to engage in the love affair of those three countries was Russia in the world map Russia
was the World’s Largest Nation borders European and Asian countries as well as the Pacific and
Arctic oceans. Russia has the second largest military power in the world and the china and Russia
are both permanent members of the United Nations Last July 7, 2017 the China’s President Xi
Jinping during the meeting Xi said that “china and Russia are good neighbors and good friends
and good partners” so I do believe that if Russia will join the affair there will be competition but
there will be good relations in the end.

In my own perspective that United States and Philippines has good relationship before but the
Philippine’s economy doesn’t Improve that’s why I think duterte thinks that when it comes to the
economy of the Philippines Filipino people needs china. That’s why one of his speech says that “
I am no American Puppet I am the President of the Sovereign Country and I’ am not answerable
to anyone except the Filipino people” but the thing is what if, if china wants to colonize the
Philippines that we won’t notice because of their tactics I believe the true colors of those country
will reveal soon .

In the next ten years I can predict that China will colonize the West Philippine sea and the United
states will help the Philippines but I can’t tell that the Philippines will trust the United States .

History repeat itself so I recommend that Philippines needs to be neutral to those country it is
because at the end of the day Philippines needs to be independent country and not a puppet of
United States and China.
