In group and individual settings, students will Plan, Write, and Revise compositions, and then
present the final product to the class. At the beginning of the (designated) month, students will
receive a topic and writing category (Biography, Poetry, etc.), and at the end of that month, submit
a final draft and complete a presentation. During the month, we will work on planning and
revising the compositions. We will tackle this together.

Group Writing & Presentations (4):

In small groups, students will collaborate to complete a writing assignment and present it to the
class. In an attempt to avoid unfair grading and uneven work distribution, 70% of this grade is
based on individual participation & presentation and 30% on group presentation (I am not grading
on Speech Techniques but organization/flow of the presentation. This will be an easy 30% if
everyone works together.)

Individual Writing & Presentations (6):

Students will implement the Group Assignments into four of the Individual Assignments. These
assignments will not require as much as the group assignments, but they will still require
diligence.

and Teacher will schedule conference with Parent, and discuss behavior and
actions recorded in student’s folder. Any further consequences will be at the
decision of Our Great Principal.

All Warnings will be noted in Student’s folder (Warning, 1, Reason). We will separate
ourselves from the environment (classroom, recess, lunch, etc.), and therefore, will take
place in/outside of the classroom. Coaching will act as a conference between Student and
Teacher, and will occur in the classroom or an office. This discussion will be recorded (in
detail) in the student’s folder. After each Warning and Coaching, parent will receive
notification through means of communication as requested by parent – email or phone call.

Students,
1. Please read and reflect on our “Rules of the Classroom” and the definition of
“Respect”. What does Respect mean? What does it mean to Respect Yourself? Respect
Others?
2. Please read about our Calm Down Center, and think about what helps You feel
relaxed. Does music help? Writing? Coloring? Jumping jacks?
Bring your ideas with you on the first day of class, and be prepared to share!
Enjoy the rest of your summer, and I will see you in the classroom.

You must be imaginative, strong-hearted. You must try things that may not work, and
you must not let anyone define your limits because of where you come from. Your only
limit is your soul. What I say is true, anyone can cook, but only the fearless can be
