Knowledge will humble the one who seeks it in order to act

upon it, and he will always cry over himself (feeling his
shortcomings). However, the one who seeks knowledge in
order to sit and teach others and give verdicts and enjoy the
pride of this will demean people and will be destroyed by his
arrogance, and people will hate him. (As-Siyar)

Salaf (pious predecessors): "I gave up seeking the pleasure of

people and I became able to say the truth; I stayed away from
 befriending dissolute people and then I was able to find
righteous company; I shunned the pleasure of this worldly life
and only then I was able to enjoy the sweetness of the
hereafter.

People will be gathered on the Day of resurrection more hungry, thirsty and naked than they ever
were; the one who fed for the sake of Allaah will then be fed by Allaah, and the one who clothed
people for the sake of Allaah will be dressed by him." ('Abdullaah ibn 'Ubayd)

One does not give up a loved one except for someone dearer to him. So if our love for Allaah is
stronger than anyone (or anything) else we love, then it would become easy to give up every
endeared prohibition for His sake.

The best father to his children is he whose love for them does
not lead him to neglect advising them. The best children to their
father are those whose father's negligence towards him does
not lead to them being undutifulness. (Birr Al-Waalidayn pg. 91)

One of the Salaf(pious predecessors) said: "When you talk,

remember the One who can hear you, and when you look,
remember the One who can see you and when you are
determined to do something then remember the One who
knows everything."

Allah may raise someone — not out of love for him — but rather to
bring him down from above. Blessings are preserved by justice and
gratitude, and they vanish by injustice and ingratitude.
‫ وتزول بالظلم‬،‫ تُحفظ النِّعم بالعدل والشكر‬،‫قد يرفع هللا أحدا ً ال حبا ً له وإنما ليُسقطه من علو‬
‫والكفر‬
