Instructions:

Introduction:
The Meowf hat is worked flat and the cat portion of the chart is working using the intarsia method for
colorwork. You can work the hat in the round, but I found that the darker float colors bled through on
the white cats and with the amount of colors being worked, the floats were creating too much bulk. If
you are doing the cats all one color though, working in the round would work just fine.
Gauge:
4.5 sts and 5 rows per inch.

Ribbing:
Cast on 88 sts.
Row 1: *K2, P2* Repeat from * to * to the end of the row.
Row 2: *P2, K2* Repeat from * to * to the end of the row.
Rows 3-11: Repeat rows 1 and 2.
Row 12: Increase 2 stitches evenly across the row. (90 sts)

Main Hat:
Work from the chart for each row. RS (odd) rows work from right to left and WS (even) rows work
from left to right. The chart is a 30 stitch repeat so you will have 3 chart sections on the hat. You can
use a marker to separate each section if it makes it easier for you to follow.

Because this hat is worked using intarsia, you will have a separate strand of yarn for each cat and the
color spacing in between the cats. You can either wind the strands on bobbins if preferred or leave
them loose and pull them out when working.

Row 29 (RS): Begin decreasing, knit 2 together where shown (the decrease is marked by the red box
on the chart), then continue to follow the chart decreasing where indicated.

On the last decrease row you will be left with 9 stitches on your needles. Break yarn and thread through
the remaining stitches with a tapestry needle. Pull the yarn tight to close the hole and fasten off inside
and weave in.
Finishing:
Weave in all ends. Using mattress stitch, seam the hat.

To make a pompom: use two pieces of cardboard cut into 2.5” diameter circles with 1” diameter holes
in the centers and wrap round all colors to make a pompom or whichever colors you desire. Sew onto
the top of the hat and secure ends.
