Resolution No. 2018-030, Creating an ad hoc Committee for Carmel Youth Center for
SUBJECT:
real property lease negotiations.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council adopt Resolution No. 2018-030 , creating the ad hoc Committee for Carmel Youth Center,
and that Mayor pro tem Theis and Councilmember Hardy be appointed to enter into negotiations with the Carmel
Youth Center, Inc. for real property lease negotiations.
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea has a land lease with the Carmel Youth Center, Inc., where the City owns the
underlying land and the Youth Center owns the building and improvements. The lease was executed in February
of 2011.
Changing opportunities at the Carmel Youth Center necessitate the reopening of the lease.

WHEREAS, the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea has seen a need for oversight of the Carmel
Youth Center; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council Members from time to time discuss and rebalance
their obligations and appointments to local agencies;
1. Confirm the appointments to the Carmel Youth Center ad hoc Committee of Mayor pro
tem Theis, Councilmember Hardy, City Administrator Rerig and City Attorney Mozingo.
