Post-Production Diary 1

Date – 10/11/17

For the first day of editing, we aimed to construct the basic framework of our video. In this,
we imported all footage and music into separate folders (organized based on the date of
filming), then used our storyboard and shot list in order to match this up on the timeline.
Within this, my role was to use the storyboard and inform the group member editing of our
intended time frames and transitions, then forming new ideas were these unsuitable.
Having completed this basic edit, we decided to re-film all scenes in the ‘room’ in which the
protagonist was trapped. We felt as though the previous footage, once placed alongside
that which we filmed on other days, did not construct the style and atmosphere we had
aimed for, primarily on the basis of mise en scene and lighting. As can be seen below, we
decided to colour-code the footage we needed to change. This allowed us to watch over the
production in its entirety and decide which areas we intended to change, and how we were
going to change them. From this, I created a new shot list and ensured the premiere file was
prepared for us to use again following re-filming.

Overall, I am confident that we were successful in this day of filming. Though our decision to
re-film will set us back in terms of progress, I believe it is a necessary change to make to
improve the quality of our production. Furthermore, I think that the decision to colour-code
aspects of the video will increase effectivity and allow us to complete post-production as
quickly as possible from this point.
