WEDNESDAY—REVIVAL PRAYING

Father of Light:
What can I do to see my personal revival reach the lost? Conversion is the
work of your Spirit. Without you I can do nothing. Still yet, there are
circumstances under which your hand works, just like there are hindrances that
restrain your power.
1. If my revival is to spread to the lost I have to look for the lost
As a rule, we achieve what we attempt. Converting my lost friends is not
something that will happen without me being intentional with my testimony.
Who wins souls that does not want to win souls? Few businessmen become rich
by accident; they usually have a good business plan! To be rich in saved souls I
need you to give me the grace to work at it, and to witness. Men and women will
not come to Christ if I do not preach Christ, or bring them to others who are
preaching Christ at church. I pray someone will come to Jesus today through my
effort to get them the gospel! Let me bend my whole soul to win souls.
2. I have to emphasize the truths you usually bless
Acts 11:20-21 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they
were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus. And the hand of the
Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
Now that’s how to spread revival! If I do not preach Jesus I will not see
people saved. No broken hearts are healed by psychology. Souls are not
saved by intellectual argument. If I diminish the cross I diminish your blessing for
revival. Help me Lord, this day, to go after the lost in the ways you’ve designed.
Give me grace to spread revival to those whom I know, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
SATURDAY—IN THE PSALMS

Saturday, March 10
Psa. 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my
cry.
Gracious and Mighty God:
Patient waiting on you was a special characteristic of the Lord Jesus.
Impatience never lived in his heart or escaped his lips. All through his agony in
Gethsemane, beatings at Gabbatha, and passion on Golgatha, he waited on you
in the omnipotence of patience. No glare of anger. No word of complaint. No
act of vengeance came from God’s Lamb. He was patient to perfection!
The Bible character Job, meek in his in dust and ashes, does not equal Jesus
on the cross. Christ wears the crown when it comes to patience. He is the man!
That means it is impossible for me to wait on you in vain. Jesus received your
help through the same process of faith and prayer I have to use. He teaches me
how to conduct my conflicts so I can succeed in the same way, and triumph in
his strength over all affliction and persecution and trial.
Psa. 40:8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
Faith is what wins the promises. Give me a simple, single-eyed confidence
in you. I could be as poor as Lazarus, as hated as Mordecai, as sick as Hezekiah,
or as lonely as Elijah, but as long as my hand of faith holds you, none of my
outward problems, predicaments, or problematic people can prevent my being
numbered with the blessed. Yet the wealthiest who have no faith are cursed.
Here is the essence of obedience: my soul’s cheerful adoration of you!
Jesus’ obedience is my righteousness. It is my own enablement, by faith, to trust,
and apply the crucified life. Help me be obedient in him today. Then, in spite of
measureless grief, I will joy in the Lord and rejoice in all your works, even in the
“rough providences” of my life. Make me like Jesus in this, so everyone who sees
me will know I am his disciple! Amen.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
“Oh,” says one, “I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer.” And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into God’s presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayer—the posture, the
time, place—rather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
