Q. As a graduate chemical engineer in your company, hotel X has approached your company
requesting your company to design a Desalination plant for producing clean potable water from
sea water to use in their hotels in Cape Town.

In your groups, design a Desalination plant for processing sea water (find the quantities of salt
concentration from literature). Discuss how the plant will be assembled and discuss the effects
of concentration polarization and fouling which may occur with the associated membranes.
Discuss how you will curb the effects of concentration polarization and fouling in the plant.
