Learning Narratives

I consider myself a very well-rounded person – I am good at

juggling different tasks at one time. The reason I consider
myself good at this is because I have a full-time job, full time
student, and run my own Arbonne Business.

I also consider myself very organized. I cannot tolerate having

papers tossed all around every which way, I like knowing where
everything is, in fact so I can just know exactly where to go
when trying to find something.

I consider myself a very respectful individual. I have self-

respect, and respect for everyone around me. I know it is
important to treat people to the best of my ability.

The best takeaway I have from the Business Administration

program is the operational management course! I have learned
a lot of valuable techniques in that course such as scheduling,
sequencing, quality management, and supply chains. I feel it
was a good way to prepare me for the future.

Dear Faculty Lynn Park,

The attached report, requested by yourself, Lynn park, describes the importance of the proper
use of Social Media operating an online network marketing business. This report is going to
demonstrate proper practice of business promotion using social media applications such as
Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

This study was conducted for personal and peer use for the Arbonne business’s that these
individuals own. The three different areas that were researched are:

1. Pros and cons of Network marketing using Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

2. Using different generators on each application to improve sales and promotion. Is it worth
paying these applications to sponsor your business?

3. Should network marketers use their personal application pages or have personal business
pages?

Research consisted of interviewing team mates on my business team, and conducting surveys
on each application to see if there was similarities or differences of personal preference.
Secondary research consisted of online research and audio. Results of the research which will
be discussed, proves that social media really helps promote networking business’s.

14
I would be enlightened to discuss the conclusions of this report with you at your request. I
thank you for asking me to research such an amazing topic that I can relate too and hope you
see the benefits of network marketing.

Sincerely,

Allison Feltmate

Executive Summary

Network marketing businesses can really benefit from social media for promoting their business
and also for sales. Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have many different features that will
benefit networking companies, each application has their own unique component as finding
has proved me. Each application has so many different settings, that each app is uniquely
beneficial. I am a frequent user of Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook and I have learned many
techniques and tips that are going to benefit me and my business.

The data is proven by interviewees of Allison Feltmate’s organization, from different

management levels. There has been fifteen people interviewed in which all fifteen said social
media plays a huge role in network marketing.

This topic was researched in three different data analysis topics (each based on twitter,
Instagram, and Facebook)

(1) Pros and cons of Network marketing using Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

(2) Using different generators on each application to improve sales and promotion. Is it worth
paying these applications to sponsor your business?

(3) Should network marketers use their personal application pages or have personal business
pages?

16
On the initial research, we found about the benefits with using these applications to increase
promotion and sales. As the apps are always improving and growing with each other for
competitiveness, It is important networkers understand the improvements to use the
applications to the best advantage.

Purpose

This project was implemented to show network marketers how to maximize sales and
promotion using social media using applications such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook
researching the questions stated in the executive summary. This research will help network
marketers learn more about the applications once they are aware of the benefits it could bring
to their organization.

Discussion of Findings

The results of this research is to indicate the pros and cons of research networking while
implementing the important techniques to using each application to the best advantage for
your organization. The research findings are presented in the following sequence: (a) Pros
and cons of Network marketing using Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. (b) Using different
generators on each application to improve sales and promotion. Is it worth paying these
applications to sponsor your business? (c) Should network marketers use their personal
application pages or have personal business pages?

Pros and Cons

Twitter

Twitter can be a really good application for network marketing use. Hashtags are a common
twitter use, which means you can search any hashtag and any post from all over the world
on twitter will be given in the search. If someone wanted to search “beautynetworkers”,
anyone that posted that hashtag, their post would be found. Twitter also allows users to
follow any other users that you would like. When users follow other accounts on this
application they will gain followers because other users will assume they have mutual
interest. All twitter features are free, which is a huge advancement. Twitter is a really good
way to share information and access info. Although twitter is a really good app, there are
some disadvantages. Some people misjudge posts on twitter, and there will be some
unnecessary trash talk. Twitter also has a 140-character limitation which makes it hard to
get longer information out to the universe. There is more pros than cons for the use of
twitter.

17
Instagram

Instagram is best known for post engagement. Instagram has a lot more users rather than
twitter, and many more people view the posts users make. Here is a photo of the brand
engagement: Instagram vs. Twitter vs. Facebook:

Figure 1.1

Source: Brand Engagement: Instagram vs. Facebook

This photo shows a significant increase within Instagram users. Instagram is known for photo
sharing which offers wonderful enhancement filters to improve the lighting of your photos. A
lot of users love Instagram for the simplicity of it, just sharing photos, using hashtags and
gaining followers of same interest. This sounds quite similar to twitter, but Instagram is a much

18
larger community of people, plus its more interactive which can benefit business’s by posting
photos, hash tagging them, and gaining followers to view their photos and see the lifestyle they
have. Instagram now offers to create a “story” similar to the snapchat application. Creating a
story is more personal, your followers can view it if they want to. Stories can be made more
frequent than posts, especially for the people that enjoy seeing the lifestyle you have and enjoy
following your everyday life. Instagram gives an option for having a “private account” so users
that want to follow your account will have to request permission to follow your account. For
business, its best to have your account so anyone can follow so you will build interest in your
posts which will increase interest of individuals in your product. There are several cons that
come with using Instagram as well. If the user does not have a smartphone, they may choose
not to use this application as the app on the phone and running your account from a computer
is very different. You are unable to upload stories on a computer which defeats the purpose a
bit. Instagram is also highly addictive, so you can definitely abuse the app, which may cause
annoyance with the followers of the account. Instagram is a very diverse app, and is by far
many favourites!

Facebook

Facebook is great for business promotion and advertising. Facebook is mostly known for
reaching out to your friends and family, and is more of a secured application. Privacy settings
on Facebook are super secured, and you are able to adjust these, but no matter what, you
cannot just become friends with anyone, the user either has to add or accept a friend request.
Facebook is excellent for networking businesses because the account user is able to make
certain events and groups on the application, which makes it beneficial for online information
or presentation, etc. Facebook live is also an amazing option for getting information spread,
because it gives everyone on the user’s friend list a notification when the user goes live. Polls
are also an option on Facebook within certain groups, the user can create a poll asking
questions for their friends to fill out which is super beneficial to gain information or preferences
from their friends on Facebook.

Engagement within apps

Some Network Marketers use Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for just some features of the
app. For examples, some users may not post recently on Facebook, but use the applications
because you can make events and separate groups on the application which makes it easy to
spread information to certain people as long as they are a user of the application. Network
marketing is all about “working from home” and living a positive, vibrant life. Users of apps
involved in networking want to show their friends on Facebook, and their followers on
Instagram, and twitter the lifestyle that these individuals choose to pursue. Network marketing
is growing a global business from your smartphone. Network marketing is being you, expressing
what you love, showing the world that it is possible to grow a thriving business online. Using

19
these apps to show the world your happiness is what they are for. Posting about your product
and business is important, but what is even more important, is showing friends and followers
that you are always travelling, or home with your children, or whatever it may be. Showing the
time freedom that users have is what these apps are all about. Network marketing also allows
the consumers to log on to a website, place their order, and the products or service will be
delivered right to their door. There is several steps in a traditional business, whereas in network
businesses it goes right to the consumer. Take a look at the following figure:

Figure 1.2

Source: Traditional Business vs. Networking Business

With some network marketing businesses, like my very own, the distributor step is even
skipped. With my organization, products are from the manufacturer, right to the consumer, it is
super-efficient. Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook all offer sponsoring on their page to promote
your business pages. It does cost money; however, it allows other users in the interest of your
business to view the promotion right on their home page. The costs vary for different
applications, twitter is approximately $3.00 daily, $18.00 weekly. Instagram only offers weekly
for $28.00, and Facebook is $7.00 daily, or $57.00 weekly. It is worth paying Instagram to

20
promote your page from personal experience. Followers doubled within the week I sponsored
my business page as well as peer business partners.

Personal or Business Page?

On twitter, it is not suggested to have a separate account for your business. It is suggested to
share your business/personal profile; this is due to the purpose of using twitter for network
marketing. You are trying to share and promote the lifestyle and time freedom rather than
The products or services of the organization. Instagram, same thing. Instagram suggests using
your personal account to promote your lifestyle of network marketing. However, Instagram
suggests a separate account for just clients and business peer members. Some network
marketers prefer to have separate accounts, but to gain interest in your career, it is
recommended to start with just a personal page until you reach a very large client base, then
possibly switch to a personal page. Facebook offers a page linked right to your personal page
which is great for business promo. There are several network marketers that take advantage of
the Facebook page and then pays to be sponsored by Facebook to boost likes, activity, and
page followers.

Conclusions and Recommendations

21
Analysis of network marketing and using social media to its best advantage, has been a huge
business booster for users. Without social media, network marketers would have a hard time
spreading information internationally, and having global meetings online using social medial. It
is a great way to connect and share your business with people all over the world. After
researching on this topic, I would highly recommend:

1. Paying the sponsoring fees for business promotion on Instagram and Facebook applications

2. Using the applications to your best advantage by sharing the time freedom and lifestyle with
network marketing rather than spamming everyone’s news feed with products and deals even
though they are great.

3. Have personal pages with all three applications, but also having a personal business page on
Facebook.
