AGC POLYOL SYSTEM® R1802-1 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION OF R1802-1 Polyol R1802-1 Is a fully compounded all water blown polyether jal flame retardant*. This system is specially formulated to process usa conventional spray machine and it was found to conform to DIN B-4102 B-2 fire rating. Polyol R1802: ing and wall insulation. TYPICAL FORMULATIONS me Polyol R1802-1 100.0 Polymeric MDI 100.0 Typical reaction time for this formulation at component temperature of 20°C is as follows: - Value [Foaming conditions _[Poly/MDI temperature | 20/20 ly/MDI ratio by Lid eight Reactivity [Cream time (s) 4 Rise time (s) 20 [Core density kg/m") 35 Overall density kg/m) 50~55 [Thermal conductivity _}w/mK’ 0.025 STORAGE AND HANDLING ‘Temperature control for processing and storage of this system is desirable because it will lead to a more consistent product. These materials should be stored at temperatures between 18°C and 29°C (65° and 85°F). The storage life of Polyol R1802-1 is provisionally 6 months. TOXICOLOGICAL PROPERTIES AGC rigid polyurethane foam system is consists of two components, an A component and a B component. Isocyanate (A) Component: The crude MDI contains a polymeric isocyanate. If inhaled, it may cause severe irritation of the respiratory tract, and may be fatal at high concentrations. It also may cause allergic asthma, with symptoms of wheezing, choking and shortness of breath. Anyone who is sensitive to isocyanate may develop asthma symptoms at isocyanate concentrations below the Threshold Limit Value (TLV). Persons with bronchial asthma should not be exposed to isocyanates. Isocyanates may produce skin sensitization. The acute oral LDso (rats) is greater than 5 g/kg. Thus, the isocyanate produces low systematic toxicity if ingested, but it will iritate or burn the mouth, throat, oesophagus and stomach. Contact with the eyes or skin may produce burns or an irritant to the skin, eyes and Mucous membranes. In high concentrations, the blowing agent may cause irregular heartbeat if inhaled. PERSONNEL PROTECTION Isocyanate (A) Component: The isocyanate used is methylene bisphenyl isocyanate (MDI), The American conference of Governmental and Industrial Hygienists has established a ceiling TLV of 0.02 parts per million for exposure to MDI. Ventilation should be designed to keep airborne concentrations below this limit. Goggles, imperious gloves, coveralls and boots should be worn when handling this material. Polyol (B) Component: The OSHA Permissible Exposure Level for the fluorocarbon used as a blowing agent is 1000 ppm. Ventilation should be designed to keep airborne concentrations below this limit. Goggles and impervious coveralls and boots are recommended when handling this component. FIRST AID If eye contact occurs. A or B side: Flush with water for 15 minutes and call a physician. If skin contact occurs. A side: Flush for 15 minutes and call a physician. B side: Flush with water for 15 minutes. If ingestion occurs. A side: Drink large quantities of water; induce vomiting and call a physician. B side: Drink large quantities of water. SPILL AND LEAK PROCEDURE When cleaning spills of either the isocyanate or polyol component, wear goggles, impervious gloves, coveralls and boots, and a NIOSH/MSHA approved positive pressure supplied air respirator. For an A side spill, add an equal amount of neutralizing solution ( 90-95% water, 5-10% ammonia). For A or B side spills, add dry adsorbent, then shovel or sweep up and place in appropriate sized clean metal container and seal. For a side, wait and see 24 hours before sealing. Containers of spilled B side should be covered without delay. Wash all contaminated clothing before reuse. DISPOSAL Dispose of contaminated product or containers and materials used in cleaning up spills or leaks in a manner approved for this product. Consult appropriate Federal, state and local regulatory agencies to ascertain proper disposal procedures.
