Project Details:

Power Factor Correction Using Capacitor Bank

My Role : Design of power supply and relay circuit.

Team of four engineering students
Tools and Technology: Operational amplifiers, relay, transistors, capacitor.

Project Description:

Mostly loads in industries are inductive which distorts the power factor and draws more
current for same amount of useful power, by adding correct value of capacitor power factor
is corrected.
 Power factor correction controls power losses in industries and for consumers
lowers the penalty charges. It improves the transformer rating and also the switch gear
rating.

Workshop And Co-Curricular Activities:

1. Presented a seminar on the topic “Mission Orbiter Mars (MOM)”.

2. Attended 45 days Industrial training from Baglihar Hydroelectric Generating

Station.

3. Presented a seminar about the “Industrial training from Generating Station”.

4. Organized a seminar on “Protection of electrical appliances from fluctuation of

voltage” with my teammates.
