Adapting myself to the dynamic world, a kid, just out of school found it hard to find

his area of interest. As science kept surprising me every day with the evolution and the
innovations, it became very convincing and clear to pursue my higher secondary education in
Science domain. With an aggregate of 95% in 10th Standard and an 86.25% in my higher
secondary education, it was a crucial time for me to select a domain which I need to master
or pursue my career in. My inbred strengths have always been creative abilities and the power
of imagination; which made me take up a discipline that would allow me to channel them in
the best possible way. Thus, Mechanical engineering was a direct consequence of my
convictions.

The 4 years of Engineering in Mechanical took me through a rollercoaster ride, which

was very interesting and I could find a wider horizon and the limitless exposure in the
respective field. Adding to the academic interests, we, a team of 25 gathered to design and
develop an off-road buggy, which could survive high terrains and endure for a long time.
Leading the academic project team gave me the zeal to develop a patentable prototype to
generate electricity continuously for free. The career started to be distinct, and leading my
team gave me the confidence to manage and take ownership of various scenarios. By the end
of the project, I could sense a Harbinger growing in me.

After I graduated from my college with an aggregate of 75%, I started to realise the
overseeing skills were evolving in me, when I got a chance to manage and take responsibilities
for one of the start-ups based on food cart concept. I started working there by managing the
vendor deals, simultaneously leading a graphic design team, and the outcome was fruitful.
Though I had to face a lot of challenges in day-to-day’s work, I could sense lack of experience
in the field of project handling. During my interning days at Tiffin (A mobile food based start-
up), I got introduced to the world of Networking through one of my friends. The thrills and
design aspects of networking started to attract me and left me curious to explore more on it.
Eventually, I started learning CCNA concepts and grew fonder towards it and finally thought
of pursuing a full time career in the respective field.

I got interviewed at Vodafone Global Services Private Ltd. and was selected to serve
Demon Broadband Network Faults team helping the UK Customers / Businesses to maintain
the network with utmost reliability and stability. Within a short span of 10 months, I was
recognised for my contributions and innovations and was awarded the Star Award for
Innovation for the First Quarter 2017 amongst all centres of Vodafone Shared Services India,
which in turn helped me to get promoted as a team lead for Learning and Development
department.

When I look back into my Mechanical domain, which once taught me the concept of
machines, design and management, and now when I see myself as a team lead and the
requirements to grow higher, I was looking for a link to join and balance the knowledge of
these two domains. Fortunately, I had an answer within a month’s time, when I discovered
the opportunities and scope of Project Management which has now become very essential
element to find and nurture the different skillsets to manage a project. From its planning
stage to its final outcome, the flow of the project, the aids used to enhance it and the risks
calculated for the stability is always a striving advantage an individual can have when he/she
is assigned with a project. It gives us a wider horizon to explore fields like Medical, IT,
Production, Education, Construction, Financial etc.

Centennial being one of the oldest publicly funded college in Ontario, blends the
aspects of technological aids required, rich varieties of Case studies with the most
experienced and real time Project Management faculties, and the most valuable Canadian
experience through the Co-op internship provides a confidence in shaping me into a Project
Management professional. The diversity and cultures welcomed and promoted at Centennial
gives me the courage and confidence to pursue my Post graduate certificate program at
Centennial.

When it comes to quality education and best culture blend, Canada is one of the
Dream option any individual can have to pursue his/her higher education credentials. Just like
the maple leaves are found throughout Canadian provinces, the diversity we could find in
Canada is also spread out. Interacting and adapting to the best of cultures and practices would
shape us into a valuable and a socially responsible individual. The corporate principles
followed and the organisational practices in the country would provide a promising career to
take up, serve and contribute.
