Another record-breaking history has inscripted in Mariners’ list of event.

The school has

collaborated to some officials of Philippine Coast Guard Squadron in making the earth greener and safer
place to live on. For the first time in Mariners’, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Coast Guard
Auxiliary (PCGA), the Philippine Army and the Rotary Club of Isarog has joined together for this very
event.

This last February 27, 2016, the school has conducted a resourceful walk towards saving nature.
A second BIVOUC activity has done with thumbs up. It was participated by the school officials; Ma’am
Edna Fatima Balaquiao, the SAS director, Ma’am Rellosa, the school registrar, Mr. Napoleon Mangente,
the school VPA, Ma’am Marian Her Lazaro, the Vice President for Academic of Affair (VPAA) and many
more. The highlight of this event was the 500 cadets enrolled in NSTP for the partial requirement in their
curricula, on the other side, the 902nd CGAOTC officers conducted the lead with the command of Mr.
Esdras Tamayo (Security Officer) and Mr. Mario I. Castor, the Commandant of the said unit. It was again
a test of strength for the cadets in finishing off the walk for about 20 km from our school to the small
barangay of San Francisco Canaman. It was then a tough and an energy-draining trek for it begin with a
flashy heat of sunlight and ended up raining that made the cadets shiver in cold, but in that very
moment, they fueled themselves by a strong set of determination that help them through until the end.
The participants departed in early seven (7) and arrived at 10:30. As the cadet march, a military track
and ambulance was hired to assist for emergency purposes since it is not a quick errand despite that
distance.

This said to be the second BIVIOVAC activity that conducted during Mr. Castor’s time as a
commandant of 902nd CGAOTC Unit to his service 2 years from now.

The main goal of this activity was not only to hand over help from our Kababayan in Canaman
but also to plant those 200 pieces of mahogany and pili seedlings that were provided by the school. The
seedlings were from Naga City Nursery Plant, it was monitored by DENR and through Atty.
Angel____________.

In that sense, we are already hitted 2 birds in 1 stone, we served our mother earth and yet we
rendered help to our townsmen out there.

After planting that Gamete, the captain of that barangay ( Bawa, CamSur to be exact) personally
deliver his thanks to all marineros and marineras who participated and served the event. In a short
while, the most awaited has begun, “The Boodle Fight “, in where the cadets show their guts in feeding
their empty stomach.

It was really been a great experience being part of it. Serving your homeland and proving that
we marineros took a big part in prolonging the clinging life our beloved earth. As a great assurance,
someday we will realize that those seedlings we have planted today will our foundation for tomorrow.
