SPECIFIC COMPETENCES
- to provoke students to use words and phrases they have been learning recently;
– provoke students to use the Present Continuous in reading and in writing;
– to complete some tasks based on the topic
AIMS
By the end of the lesson the pupils will be able to:
-to practice and consolidate Present Continuous
-to use Present Continuous in sentences of their own;
-to have learnt how to use Present Continuous.

TEACHING TECHNIQUES: conversation, explanation, exercise, prediction (deductive


method)
SKILLS: reading, writing, speaking, listening

MATERIALS: PPT, Video, Laptop, video projector, worksheets, blackboard
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: If students do not understand the oral commands or the tasks,
they will be translated into Romanian
Warm Up
Aim:
-to create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere
Procedure: T greets the pupils and ask about their mood . T asks his students a few questions
about their previous class and corrects their homework..

Activity 1: Lead-in
Aim:
-to introduce the pupils in the topic;
Procedure: T asks the pupils to watch a short video. After that she asks the pupils to guess what
they are going to talk about.
T presents the objectives of the lesson and writes the title of the lesson on the blackboard.

Activity 2: Presentation &Practice
Aim: - to practice reading skills
-to practice and consolidate Present Continuous
Procedure: T presents her pupils a PPT in order to introduce the theme of the lesson and asks
the students to read the sentences and to pay attention to what they see.
The pupils‘ activity: the pupils read, by turns, the sentences and pay attention to the spelling and
form.
The teacher, using the deductive method and the information given in the previous PPT, asks her
pupils to remember how Present Continuous is formed and how it is used. After Students have
remembered how Present Continuous is formed gives her students all the forms of Present
Continuous (Affirmative, Negative and Interrogative) cases of usage, spelling rules and adverbs .
The teacher asks the students to write down in their notebooks.
T gives the pupils worksheets in order to practice Present Continuous. In the first exercise the
pupils have to complete the sentences with the right form of verb To Be. The pupils read the
sentences and write them on the blackboard. T corrects if necessary. (appendix 1)

Activity 3: Practice
Aim:
-to practice and consolidate Present Continuous
- to use Present Continuous in sentences of their own
Procedure: T gives to the pupils another worksheet. The pupils have to choose the right form of
the Present Continuous tense. (affirmative, negative, interrogative form). (appendix2).
The pupils have to read the correct sentences to the whole class. The other pupils have to correct
if necessary. The teacher makes error corrections and helps the pupils, where necessary.
Then T asks the pupils to write three sentences of their own using Present Continuous –
affirmative, negative and interrogative form. T helps the pupils if necessary.

Activity 4: Production
Aim: -to complete some tasks based on the topic
Procedure:. T asks the pupils to form groups and to name their groups. After they complete this
task, the teacher explains them the next game. They will have to look to a PPT and write some
sentences on a flipchart by putting the words in the right order. The winning team receives a
diploma. After finishing the task, the teacher corrects and gives feed-back.
