What
is the
TAP-4
The TAP-4 is the first portable instrument using the vibroacoutic method to perform
tests on On L ine Tap Ch angers (O LTC) for tran sform ers. Just like a stetho sco pe,
the unit listens to the heartbeat o f you r OL TC with out open ing it. It can create a
complete overview of the internal state and can detect a wide variety of mechanical
and electrical malf un ctio ns.

The TA P-4 is u sed wi th a sim ple current tran sducer and u p to 3 accelerometers,
allowin g simpl e and precise readin gs of the main com pon en ts o f an OL TC, th e
moto r and mech anism . It i s a m ultipu rpose measuremn t apparatus, able to test
all OLT C ty pes (A BB, F ederal Pi oneer, Ferran ti, M R, etc.) Its portability and
resistance to i mpacts an d extrem e climate co ndito ns (-4 0˚C to +7 0˚C) make it a
preciou s and hig hly appreciated instru ment.

Simp le to u se, the OpenZen -TA P sof tware drives the instru ment and reco rds an d
Simple
analyzes O LTC even ts.

Key points
• Very precise meas urem ents ( 100 kHz) allo w th e very fast samplin g tim e
(10 µ s) requ ired for f ine an aly sis o f th e vibration s.

• Adaptable to all OL TC typ es.

• Tes ts may be cond ucted either on lin e or o ff line.

• No n-in vasive tests.

9
Data processing makes
analysis easier

There are 2 tools to help analyze data: converting raw data into HQ envelopes
a nd e xp or t to Z ens ol f or mat.

Quick and Easy Connection

• The accelero meter is placed as close as

possible to the taps.

• The AC clamp i s placed at the m otor o utlet.

• The test plan g en erator is easy to fol low

for performing tests.

• A diagnosis can be m ade in 1 5 m inu tes for

an online test, and 1 ho ur f or an of f-lin e
test.

Services
Do you have problems with your OLTC or do you wish to make a simple
preventive analysis? Zensol gives you the possibility to test its instruments,
which are compatible with all OLTC types and other vibroacoustic mechanisms:

TAP-4
Our vibroacoustic experts will be pleased to meet you and issue a report on
the condition of your OLTC, with their recommendations.

OTM-X
Our team can install the OTM-X to keep watch over your OLTC for a few
weeks. After that, a follow-up will be made on the OLTC's operations.

Dynamic Resistance
Measu
Measurement of the dynamic resistance is an off-line test performed on
OLTCs. This measurement is performed when operating the OLTC while
injecting currents and voltages in order to record variations in resistance. Our
service team knows how to perform dynamic resistance testing at the same
time as vibroacoustic tests. The correlation of the signals of these two types
of test allows our team to detect any anomalies in your OLTC.
