ABSTRACT
Eccentrically Braced Frames (EBFs) are seismic resistant building that demonstrate
high stiffness combined with excellent ductility and energy dissipation capacity in
inelastic condition. Link is a critical element that dissipated seismic energy within
inelastic behavior of EBF. Performance on the link in the form of strength, stiffness,
ductility and energy dissipation depends on cross-sectional profile that is used on the
link. This study is an improvement of the previous study about bolted replaceable
link. It uses the endplate bolted concept to connect the link to the collector beam or
column, a reduced beam section for shear link, and hybrid shear link for variation
analysis. Analysis is conducted using finite element method with MSC/NASTRAN
software to investigate the behaviour and reliability of EBFs with this new type of
replaceable link.

INTRODUCTION
The Eccentrically Braced Frame (EBF) is a seismic resistance structural system
which has advantage combination from Concentric Braced Frame (CBF) and Moment
Resisting Frame (MRF). The CBF has contribution from the strength and stiffness,
meanwhile the MRF has contribution from the ductility and energy dissipation.
The using of the reduced beam section as a shear link were inspired from the study by
Amanalah Kordi(1). He proved that the using of reduced beam section connections can
improve connection behavior at inelastic area to a large extent and avoids stress
concentrations and large deformation in the column.

The using of the hybrid shear link were inspired from the study by M. Arief Rahman
Panjaitan(2). In the study, he used the flange yield strength is higher than the web
yield strength. The failure first occured on the web area because the lower yield
strength improved stress concentrated.

This research proposal propose a development of EBF systems which combine the
using of bolted endplate, reduced beam section shear link, and hybrid shear link for
variation analysis. To investigate the inelastic seismic behaviour of this system,
cyclic quasi-static finite element analyses will be performed.
