BLUES MUSIC

MUSICAL COMEDY

HIP-HOP / RAP

HOLIDAY
 Christmas music comprises a variety of genres of music normally performed or
heard around the Christmas season. Music associated with Christmas may be
purely instrumental, or in the case of many carols or songs may employ lyrics
whose subject matter.

INDIE POP MUSIC

 Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a music genre and subculture
that combines guitar pop with DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of
mainstream pop music.
 In later years, the definition of indie pop has bifurcated to also mean bands from
unrelated DIY scenes/movements with pop leanings.

INDUSTRIAL MUSIC
 Industrial music is a genre of experimental music which draws on harsh,
transgressive or provocative sounds and themes.
 Prominent industrial musicians include Throbbing Gristle, Monte Cazazza, SPK,
Boyd Rice, Cabaret Voltaire, and Z'EV.

OPERA MUSIC
 Italian plural: opera: is an art form in which singers and musicians perform a
dramatic work combining text (libretto) and musical score, usually in a theatrical
setting.

POP/ POPULAR MUSIC

 Popular music is music with wide appeal that is typically distributed to large
audiences through the music industry. These forms and styles can be enjoyed
and performed by people with little or no musical training.
 Pop music is eclectic, and often borrows elements from other styles such as
urban, dance, rock, Latin, and country; nonetheless, there are core elements
that define pop music.
R&B AND SOUL
 The term rhythm and blues has undergone a number of shifts in meaning. Starting
in the mid-1950s, after this style of music contributed to the development of rock
and roll,
 the term "R&B" became used to refer to music styles that developed from and
incorporated electric blues, as well as gospel and soul music.

REGGAE MUSIC
 A form of pop music that originated in Jamaica, combining elements of calypso
and rhythm and blues (see blues) with a strongly accentuated offbeat. Bob
Marley was the first internationally known reggae musician.

ROCK MUSIC
 A form of popular music that evolved from rock and roll and pop music during
the mid- and late 1960s. Harsher and often self-consciously more serious than its
