I. Objectives
At the end of a 45 minutes lesson, the Grade 10 students must have:
A. understood what is entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs correctly,
B. determined the three clusters of personal entrepreneurial competencies that an
entrepreneur should possess, and;
C. applied the characters of a successful entrepreneur in their future endeavors.

III. Procedure
A. Review
The teacher will have a review on their previous discussion about Discovering
Business Opportunities.
What are the factors that will lead an entrepreneur in discovering business
opportunities?

B. Activity

Share the story of the youngest Filipino entrepreneur.

The teacher will introduce to the class the youngest Filipino billionaire who is a proud
Ilonggo, he came from a poor family, he had to work to provide for himself, he took
architecture in the University of San Agustin but unfortunately dropped-out, he wanted to
start a business on his own but his family did not believed in him, they did not support him,
of all the challenges that he faced in life it didn’t stopped him from going after his dream, at
the age of 26, he started his own fast food business,

What are the fast food business that you know class? Jollibee, KFC, Mc Donalds, etc.

He rivaled against this big fast food giants in the market.

Imagine a 26 year old Ilonggo competing against the international fast food chains
like Mc Donalds and KFC in the country? Unbelievable right? But then again this man proved
that nothing is impossible.

Now, he is named by Forbes Magazine as the youngest Filipino billionaire with a net
worth of $1 B and the present Chairman and CEO of DoubleDragon Properties Corporation,
Mr. Edgar “Injap” Sia II.

C. Analysis

What insights did you get from the story I have shared with you class? Different

Do you envisioned yourself to be the next “Injap” someday class? Different


responses.

Of course you should. It is not that impossible that the next youngest billionaire in
the Philippines or even in the world will came from this class right? I can really see the
potential in everyone one of you.

Now let us discover the characters that an entrepreneur must possess and made
“Injap” as one of the successful entrepreneurs in the country.

Introduce them the concept of entrepreneurship, what do you think is the process of
creatively converting ideas into goods and service which can be market to obtain profit and
to contribute in improving the people’s quality of life? Entrepreneurship

The characteristics under this cluster are:

1. Persistence – a good entrepreneur must not give up easily.


2. Seizing Opportunity – this is taking advantage of all business opportunities
available.
3. Commitment to the Task – this is taking charge fully of the operation and
being responsible for problems that may arise.
4. Choosing Moderate Risk/Risk Taking – a good entrepreneur should choose
risk then engaging in wild speculations.
5. Demand for Efficiency and Quality – successful entrepreneurs’ value
excellence.

Refers to possession of control, authority and influence over others is the - POWER
CLUSTER
Some characteristics under this cluster are:

1. Persuasion and Networking – a good entrepreneur must be able to persuade


and convince people to buy his or her products and services
2. Self-Confidence – a good entrepreneur possesses a strong self-belief

Last cluster of competencies refers to the desire to establish policies, procedures,


and objectives which will help in the realization of goals - PLANNING CLUSTER

1. Goal Setting – a good entrepreneur must be able to establish SMART objectives


and direct fantasies towards the accomplishments of these goals.
2. Information Seeking – a good entrepreneur shows a high level of future
orientation.
3. Proactive Management – an entrepreneur keeps an eye on the present and
the future.
4. Systematic Planning – a good entrepreneur is realistic.

E. Application

Slogan making (10 minutes)

The students will bring a 1/8 illustration board, marker pens, crayons, oil pastel and
anything they will use in making a slogan. The slogan must be about be about the character
of an entrepreneur must possessed based on the Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies
and the story of Mr. Edgar “Injap” Sia II. The theme of the Slogan is, “We are the Grade 10-
Jupiter, and we are the Philippines future Entrepreneurs”

The class must finish making their slogans before the allotted time for T.L.E class is
done.

The criteria for the Slogan is:
