Goethe Exams A1-B1

What are these exams?
These exams are held throughout the world by the Goethe Institute and are the same
everywhere. They correspond to the “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
(CEFR)”and therefore are accepted everywhere.

All exams contain following components:
Listening, writing (including some structured exercises and free writing), reading and speaking.

Why do the exam?

They are highly valued as an independent proof of your language competency by authorities and
employers in Germany and other countries all over the world.
The A1 Exam is prerequisite for spouses wanting to live in Germany with their German partner.
The B1 Exam is prerequisite for anyone wanting to apply for German citizenship.
The B2 Exam prepares for the TestDaF or the DHS which is prerequisite for anyone wanting to
study in Germany (in German).
Or you might just want to do it to have something to work towards during your course.

Do we offer preparation courses for the exams?

Yes, we offer a 2-Saturday workshop for each level on the two Saturdays preceding the exam
dates to prepare for the different parts of the exam (times: 9am-12pm) at Deakin High School.
Participation in these workshops will not guarantee that the candidate will pass the test!

Where and when will the exams be held?

The A1 and A2 exams will be held on Saturday: 2.12.2017 at Deakin High School in Deakin.
Starting time is 9am . The A1 test takes ca. 80 min plus breaks, the A2 test ca. 85 min plus
breaks. However, as the oral test is done consecutively in small groups for some the test can
take all morning.
The B1 exam will be held on Saturday 2.12.2017 and it will take ca. 205 min plus breaks,
location “Das Zentrum” (Griffith Centre, Civic), starting at 9am.
