OBJECTIVE:

The main objective of the project is to specify the relationship between senior and junior. If we
talk about our college, this relationship is different in different aspect means the junior who
smoke, consume alcohol has his strong bonding with those senior who are engaged in alcoholism
smoking etc and vice versa. Same is in process of those who are intellectual senior they are more
bound to intellectual junior and vice versa. Apart this bonding between smokers and intellectual
also exist but not to that extent. Many introvert seniors are also there in our college who has
nothing to do with junior and neither with their batch mate itself .

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:

There will be field research in the making of this project. Senior and junior belonging to our
college and from other college would be interviewed and there take on the given topic would be
the basis of this research work.

OBSERVATION:

 Case 1:
In this case I have interviewed my own elder brother whose name is Somendra singh
currently studying in Indian Institute of Technology, patna himself is a senior as he is
proceeding under last semester.
1. Ques. What do you think about kind of relationship should be there between
senior and junior?
Ans. According to me there should be a casual conversation between senior and
junior. But also there should be a gap which should be maintained by junior.
2. Ques. What do you think about ragging?
Ans. As I myself has been through ragging in my first year for many times then
ofcourse I would against this. It shouldbe immediately stopped and several steps
should be taken those who are interested in ragging.
3. Ques. What do you think about sir and ma’am culture in colleges?
6|Page

Ans. I think calling a senior by "sir" has little to do with the technical expertise
that the senior posses and is more related to the fact that he is elder and has been
a part of the college for at least an year more than any junior. In India we are
constantly taught to respect our elders. Do we look at the skill set of our elders
before addressing them as our seniors. Don't we all have an elder cousin who we
know is dumber than us but still we address them as "bhaiyya/didi"(Hindi for big
brother/big sister).
4. Ques. What do you think about the result of ragging?
Ans. As far as I am concerned with my college ragging is one of the source of
making relationship. Sometimes what happened your seniors are quite impressed
by the way junior present any kind of activity assigned by the senior and that
result in a good bonding between both. But there are also negative impacts of
ragging which sends an individual junior to mental trauma and many more
things.
5. Ques. Would you like to give any kind of advice to seniors and juniors?
Ans. Yes ofcourse, senior should help their junior in every aspects. They should
counsel junior on what to study, how to study, projects to take up, internship
opportunities, higher studies, plain old personal problems and the list goes on and
in return junior should respect them.
6. Ques. Why there is lack of senior-junior interaction?
Ans. According to me Lack of hostel culture, no common hostels, most students
are day scholars are few reasons of non interaction of senior and junior

 Case 2:
In the second case I have interviewed one of the most intellectual senior from our college
itself who currently in 3rd year whose name is Sarvar Ali.
1. Ques. What do you think about kind of relationship should be there between
senior and junior??
Ans. The relationship should be in a way that junior should not feel any kind of
hesitation while talking to his senior no matter what the topic is about.
2. Ques. What do you think about ragging?
7|Page

Ans. If we talk about Ragging in concern with our college then it is nothing but
a kind of entertainment presented for seniors. So ragging should be on the
willingness of junior if he is interested in.
3. Ques. What do you think about sir and ma’am culture in colleges?
Ans. I think in a way its a very good exercise that we are habituated to call
some of the seniors whom we consider skill wise inferior to us as "sir" because in
a country like ours where more than half of the organizations still have time
bound promotions as a part of their staffing policy, we are destined to come
across some individuals at our work place who will be occupying higher
positions in the hierarchy and will be drawing better compensations although
being skillfully not as good as us, but still we will be forced to address them as
"sir" and much more formally than the college interactions. So its good to be
prepared in advance, and isn't college after all about "learning how to learn."
4. Ques. What do you think about senior-junior interaction?
Ans. senior junior interaction in the college used to initiate by 'ragging'..
but in due course of time ragging has started showing its ugly face..
i dont think its wrong for a junior to answer some genuine and even some silly
questions of seniors
5. Ques. Why there is lack of senior -junior interaction?
Ans. The change in mindset. Students focus on achieving goals rather than
learning are the main cause of such lack.

 Case 3
In the 3rd case I have picked one of my own batch mate to be interviewed regarding the
same whose name is kartikey pandey.
1. Ques. In what way you would defined senior-junior relationship?
Ans. Senior-junior relationship is the kind of bonding exist between senior and
junior which could be in both negative and positive aspects. If we talk about our
college a good bonding exist between smoker-smoker, intellectual-intellectual
etc.
2. Ques. What do you think about sir and ma’am culture in colleges?
8|Page

Ans. Well respect can never be demanded, it is only earned and anyone who
doesn't know this simple fact doesn't deserve any kind of respect I guess but
Again there is no the big deal in the salutation "sir".
3. Ques. What do you think about the lack of senior junior interaction?
Ans. Limited number of platforms where senior-junior interaction is possible
and also hostel culture are the main cause of interaction between senior and
junior.
4. Ques. Being a first year student, Do you think ragging plays a role in building
relationship between junior and senior?
Ans. According to me ragging plays a vital role in building relationship. I have
not been through ragging more and this is reason I was not able to interact with
many senior in starting and till now.

CONCLUSION:

In the end it can be concluded that relationship are itself built and also it depend upon the
willingness of senior and junior . a better understanding between senior and junior leads to a
good relationship. Junior should interact with seniors because in the end they(seniors) are the
only who are gonna help us no matter in which aspects. Ragging also leads to built relationship
between both senior and junior and as far as culture of sir and ma’am is concerned, it should be
followed because it shows our tradition and also it should on the will of junior.
