Water is Life

Scarcity & mismanagement of water has become major root cause of the all the burning societal issues of the
day for the entire global society. Human Development Index cannot be improved with raising economic
growth indicators. Poverty alleviation remains a dream even today unless we think about the water scarcity
and repeated droughts in third world countries specifically Asia continent. All burning issues of the day are
manifestations of the water crisis which ultimately are a threat on life on the mother planet earth. Here is the
detailed analysis-

Water Scarcity & Drought Context Analysis

Threat to life on
this Planet

Anarchy in the society, Down fall of the society

Conflicts & theft of water, severe
problem of livelihoods , diseases, at large, Lead to world war for water
down fall of health/nutrition
conditions

Decrease of animal
Less farm produce or no produce
husbandry practices

Unrecognized Indigenous knowledge of

Dry farms/no moisture Loss of traditional numerous water conservation measures
water bodies

Repeated Severe Droughts

Lesser/erratic monsoon or Over exploitation of surface water Over exploitation of Decrease of vegetative cover
no monsoon Ground water Deforestation

Global warming, climate Catering the needs of people, pressure on farms for more produce, Rapid Fulfilling the needs of rapidly increasing
change, shifting of seasons,, industrialization, unhygienic living conditions, Mis- management of Concrete forests, Need livelihoods, fuel
natural resource wood , paper etc.
increasing of green house
gases in the atmosphere Overcrowded dense populated towns, increase in population, change in Urbanization, migration human folk to the
food pattern. towns for employment opportunities.,
Natural & manmade causes increase in population, change in food
pattern.

The alarming situation is compelling us to think and act promptly to save our mother earth otherwise we will
be responsible for diminishing flora & fauna on the planet.

Now the big question arises in our mind what is the solution? There are ample solutions.
Solutions are there in our roots and human civilizations. For an instance the holy Geeta talks about the right
action of the human being directly leads to preserve, conserve, manage the water, help to ensure adequate
rainfall and increase the water table.

What is the solution?

The Answer is here—

Right Set of Right

Rainfall Food
Action Activity

Food comes first, from rain food is produced; from right activity arises rain, and right activity is born of
right action.

Food grains or vegetables are factually eatables. The human being eats different kinds of food grains,
vegetables, fruits, etc., and the animals eat the refuse of the food grains and vegetables, grass, plants, etc.
Human beings who are accustomed to eating meat and flesh must also depend on the production of vegetation
in order to eat the animals. Therefore, ultimately, we have to depend on the production of the field and not on
the production of big factories. The field production is due to sufficient rain from the sky, and such rains are
controlled by Indra, sun, moon, etc., and they are all servants of the Lord. The Lord can be satisfied by right
action & set of right activities therefore, one who cannot perform them will find him in scarcity—that is the
law of nature. Right action, specifically for this age, must therefore be performed to save us at least from
scarcity of food supply.

And also we develop micro strategies to work on the major root causes of the main problem water.

Other opportunities to develop strategies:

Conclusion:

When the question comes on the threat on life then we need to wake up from long sleep to organize ourselves
for right action in our routine schedule. Nobody can save us from our wrong doings. We need to think what
we have left behind for our generations? What action of ours are the reason of water crisis? Why water needs
are not fulfilled when we have two third portion of water on earth? Why poverty is not alleviated? There are
so many questions which are unanswered.
