of Accounting – II, Managerial Accounting, Accounting for Decision Making

Do you think understanding of accounting principles is important? Please provide reasons.

Yes. Corporations, non-profits and government organizations must prepare their financial statements either in
accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or generally accepted accounting principles
(GAAP) set by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants (AICPA). Therefore accounting principles are important because they establish a consistency that
allows for more accurate and efficient viewing of company statements and reports.

Do you feel accounting is/would be a tough terrain? Please provide reasons.

Accounting is often being perceived as boring, dull and numbers, as well as tough terrain, though it is NOT! I've
been studying accounting during my Bachelors and it provides me with a critical view on the business world
which I think other disciplines do not offer! To be an accountant you need some basic Math skills only! It is a
subject that you either 'get' it or not! The technical side can be quite dull (at least in most people's eyes), but
when you get into some academic stuff it is actually very interesting and isn’t tough either!

Anyway, there is nothing wrong for doing a boring job for life but earn handsome money! There are lot of
areas in accounting you could specialized in, and don't get me wrong they are not hard!! The accounting world
is always changing!!
