Cuomo warns Trump on Alleged accomplice, other

effects of Obamacare cuts

ALBANY — Gov. Andrew Cuomo
warned President-elect Donald Trump
on Wednesday of a “dramatic impact”
on New Yorkers if Trump moves ahead
with a repeal and replace of the Afford-
able Care Act.
The meeting at Trump Tower was the
first face-to-face sit down between the
two New Yorkers, who are both Queens
natives, since Trump was elected.
After releasing his proposed state
budget late Tuesday, Cuomo said he
raised concerns about cuts to so-called
Obamacare being planned by Trump
and congressional Republicans.
“We discussed how the Affordable
Care Act affects New York and the pit-
falls of a repeal plan, which would be
dramatic on the state of New York,” Cu-
omo told reporters after the hour-long
meeting.
Cuomo’s office last month said about
2.7 million New Yorkers would lose
health insurance if a repeal moved for-
ward.
That would translate into a $3.7 bil-
lion budget hit to New York, state offi-
cials have warned.
Cuomo said the meeting was “not ad-
versarial,” and Trump was well aware

of the federal proposals being discuss-
ed.
But the Democratic governor said he
wanted to aware Trump of the impact on
New York and other large states if fed-
eral policies are changed.
“We just finished our New York state
budget, and many of the issues that are
being discussed in Washington would
have a profound effect on New York,”

killing Town of Caton resident Kelley
Clayton, traveled to the Clayton home
the week before the murder in a truck
owned by her husband, Thomas, accord-
ing to another former Clayton employee
who testified at his murder trial
Wednesday.
Larry Johnson, who said he worked
at Thomas Clayton's home remediation
franchise, Paul Davis, and later worked
for ServPro, another home remediation
business where Clayton worked, took
the stand Wednesday afternoon.
Johnson was the 10th witness called
by special prosecutor Weeden Wetmore
in Clayton's trial. Clayton, a Bingham-
ton native and former Elmira Jackals
hockey player, is charged with first- and
second-degree murder for what prose-
cutors describe as a murder-for-hire
scheme.
Johnson said he and Beard did some
work for another former ServPro em-
ployee, Kevin Morris of Wellsburg, in
September 2015.

On Sept. 23, less than a week before
Kelley Clayton was bludgeoned to death
in her Ginnan Road home, Johnson said
he and Beard finished work in Wells-
burg late in the evening and that John-
son drove Beard back to his Elmira
Heights apartment.
But when they got there, Beard had
him drive a few blocks away, where he
saw a white pickup truck that he recog-
nized as belonging to Thomas Clayton.
Johnson testified that he and Beard
drove the truck out to a rural road. He
had been to the Clayton residence on
several occasions and said he recog-
nized the location as the road Clayton
lived on.
Beard then took a bicycle out of the
back of the truck and rode off, returning
a short time later, Johnson said. Then
