 Football tournament:
Despite sports being as much a necessity as a mode of recreation, SOMES; owing to limited time,
resources and great workload; has decided not to prioritize such activity. That is we will not actively
organize such a tournament, however, is some member(s) comes with a concrete proposal to conduct
said activity and asks SOMES for help and guidance, we will provide it.
SOMES will not take the initiative, but may facilitate such activity upon request

 Final year Project:

It is an important part of B.E. curriculum as it can teach all those involved in it a great value of
practicality. The requests of funding can be forwarded to the entrepreneurs and other interested parties
through the marketing and business development channel. However SOMES can’t promise to fulfill such
request through its own resources.
The proposed activity of students other than that of the final year itself volunteering in the final year
projects is taken as a valuable suggestion. SOMES will facilitate this i.e. it can bridge the gap between
the different years to provide a platform of mutual help and growth. SOMES may organize briefing
programs to the same effect.

 Study Materials:
The request to provide study materials as syllabus, question banks as well as to maintain a department’s
library is a genuine one however we are not in a capacity to do so. Running an organization also includes
respecting other organization’s work and field. There are separate organizations set up for these
purposes so we can relay the request but cannot fulfill or attempt to do so ourselves.

 Virtual access:
This request is related to the request for study materials; however the ingenuity of the idea required us
to list this separately. The idea generally means providing the materials in a virtual manner. SOMES
proposes a ‘SOMES hub’ which will be a systematic collection of the materials like notes , books, etc.
that is available anywhere virtually.

 Career counseling:
This request can be handled in three ways:
o From teachers
o From seniors
o From outside counselling service

SOMES intends to organize programs where all these ways of counselling can be provided.

 Monthly magazine:
SOMES will allocate a notice board in which various opportunities, programs, etc. will be included. This
board will also host a monthly magazine which will contain happenings around the world (prioritizing
mechanical news). This magazine can feature writings from its members, teachers etc.
 Facilitate internship opportunities:
 Projects:
Two activities were suggested which could be placed under this category; diverse exhibition projects.
This will be looked after by the exhibition committee in close coordination with the SOMES committee.
The diversity of the project will however depend largely on the project members and the SOMES
committee and the exhibition committee can only facilitate the developments.
 Inter-mechanical open discussions:
SOMES will coordinate with the respective mechanical student councils of KU, IOE Thapathali campus,
IOE ERC, IOE WRC to manage such a discussion. The possibility of the activity will be subject to the
agreement between the said councils.
 Alumni Network:
The alumnus of SOMES can play a vital role in imparting knowledge to the present members through
their experiences. We believe that this idea can help all the members so should be carried out. SOMES
will contact the alumnus and will try to establish a network which will help coordinating with them
easier.
 Training:
 Workshops and seminars:
o Talk show
o Presentation skill development
 Student exchange program:
 Display room for fabricated projects:
A year round display room is not feasible currently, however a storage room is available (behind CES)
