dates are January 30 &31; February 6 & 7, 2016. Electrical Engineering has been
one of the top five popular branches where the number of GATE applicants has
been more. GATE 2015 saw 143588 candidates applying for Electrical Engineering paper.
GATE 2016 EE paper will also be held in multiple sessions if one goes by past trends. A
good number of PSUs have also advertised for EE candidates, who will have qualified
GATE 2016 and therefore it is expected that EE applicants will be more in number like
last year.

Careers360 brings forth concise preparation guidelines for GATE 2016 Electrical

toppers and alike, these guidelines covering important topics and books are just meant to
aid students in their preparation for GATE 2016. It is imperative for students to check the
complete GATE 2016 Electrical Engineering (EE) Syllabus before starting their prepara-
tion. We strongly advise students to study the whole prescribed syllabus and not just rely
on the topics mentioned in this book.

Success starts with small steps.

So study the concepts, get them right, practice the formulae, solve the problems and do this

Some Important Guidelines

Ü Prepare at your pace. Make your own timetable if you are one to follow it. Nobody
knows you better than your own self. Work your own schedule.
Ü During your preparation, prepare a Handbook containing the Formulae and their
gist. You can use these during the last days before the exam as a quick reckoner for the
numerical questions.
Ü Make short notes on all topics that you have been studying. These can be used during the
last days for your last minute preparations as well as for a quick refresh session before
the exam.
Ü Concentrate well on Mathematics and General Aptitude. Each constitutes 15 % of the
total marks in the question paper. These questions are known to be easy only if you
prepare for them. The score improves with good marks in this section too.
